Job description

Overview:

Baylor Scott & White Institute for Rehabilitation

Dallas, TX

Human Resources Coordinator

Full Time

This position will partner with the HR Manager to provide HR support to employees and managers in the Frisco inpatient hospital, its hubs and the Home Health division. Must have at least 2 years of HR generalist experience; strongly prefer that experience to have been in a hospital setting.

Responsibilities:

How would you like to come to work every day knowing you get to work with smart, kind, funny people who'll roll up their sleeves and work side by side with you every day and love doing it? How would you like to work in an environment that loves ideas and encourages innovation and creative problem solving? How would you like to go home most days knowing that something you did that day helped someone? As an organization, BSW Rehab takes exceptional care of people who need our help to recover from a stroke, brain injury, spinal cord injury or other illness or injury that requires physical rehabilitation. Our HR team takes exceptional care of the people who take care of those patients, and we need a new, very special team member.

The HR Coordinator (HRC) will be part of the HR team that supports employees and managers in the Frisco inpatient hospital and the Home Health division.

Job duties include:

1. Maintaining a strong working knowledge of HR policies and procedures; educating managers and employees to ensure appropriate understanding and application of such policies and procedures and providing timely communication of related changes or additions.

2. Collecting, tracking, analyzing and disseminating relevant HR data to managers, corporate HR support and/or regulatory entities as appropriate.

3. Serving as a liaison to new hires in all steps of the pre-employment process; working with the OPS HR Manager and the rest of the BSW Rehab HR team to identify and address problems along the pre-employment continuum.

4. Providing support and guidance to employees seeking assistance with benefit related questions.

5. Participating in the performance management process by ensuring employees are: (a) oriented appropriately to their positions, (b) tracking orientation, competencies, 90-day evaluations and annual evaluations to ensure completion

6. Assisting in Joint Commission and CARF survey readiness to ensure employee files contain mandatory items, track, verify, and update BLS information and clinical licensure information

7. Ensuring that accurate, timely information is provided to employees and/or tracked by HR regarding employee benefits administration, including eligibility criteria, coverage, costs, plan changes, enrollment/re-enrollment requirements, leaves of absence (including FMLA, personal and military), work injuries, and termination of coverage.

8. Assisting in gathering and communicating HR-related data to employees and managers.

9. Maintaining and auditing employment files and related documentation (e.g., I-9s, licensure, etc.) to ensure consistent compliance to regulatory and legal standards.

10. Supporting and/or directly administering the process of reviewing and reporting payroll data each bi-weekly pay period.

11. Performing other duties as requested.

Qualifications:

We're looking for a strong, strategic HR Coordinator to become part of a multi-disciplinary team that works hard, produces great results, and functions like a family without the awkward Thanksgiving dinners.

At least 2 years of hands-on involvement in a broad range of HR function are required.
A bachelor's degree, preferably in HR but we'll consider other fields of study if we believe they're relevant to what we do; if you don't have a bachelor's degree yet but have enough strong HR experience, we'll consider you, too.
Exceptional communications skills - oral and written - that enable you to get the right message across (even if it's a tough message) to anyone at any level in the organization and have them still like working with you.
A passion for doing things right - we try not to be persnickety, but we really like it when things work the way they're supposed to because of our efforts.
An openness to learning (new things or new ways of doing old things) and minimal fear of change.
A commitment to being a role model in ethical behavior and a genuine desire to make your piece of the world a better place.
An understanding that HR's role is to confidently advocate for the right thing in a way that balances the needs of our employees, our patients and our organization.
Enough confidence in yourself and trust in your teammates to own it when you've made a mistake so we can work together to figure out how to fix it for good.
A better-than-average understanding of HR and administrative systems - another gold star if you're a closet tech guru.
A willingness to bring your best efforts and attitude every day - everyone has a bad day once in a while, but we're a pretty happy lot and we function better when we're all positive and supportive.
A fun, slightly whacky sense of humor - if you can't laugh in HR, you're not trying hard enough. We do straighten up when we're dealing with serious stuff. (That last line was inserted so our boss doesn't get the wrong idea.)

That pretty much describes who our ideal candidate is. What you'll do in this role involves the usual HR suspects done exceptionally well (engagement and retention, performance management, employee relations, succession planning, candidate selection, and fundamental compensation and benefits knowledge) supporting employees and managers in the Frisco inpatient hospital and the Home Health division.
