Job Summary

Performs a variety of tasks under minimal supervision of higher-level employees. The Buyer purchases various items or materials (raw materials, MRO, semi-fabricated parts, office supplies, packaging materials, services and finished product for resale) from an Approved Vendor List, working from requisitions and/or master scheduling information.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Pays attention to detail.
  • Purchases a variety of routine items involving materials, supplies and services.
  • Review and process material request forms (MRF) from multiple offsite shops to purchase supplies and services.
  • Ensuring the purchased products and materials meet specific specifications.
  • Maintaining and ensuring purchase orders are up to date and tracking status of past due orders by coordinating with suppliers to ensure on time deliveries.
  • Process receivers and ensure orders are received in system and sent to accounting for payment.
  • Coordinates with accounting as required to resolve questions on suppliers' invoices.
  • Maintain regular contact with vendors and build relationships.
  • Following instructions based on work instructions.
  • Comply with company policies and legal guidelines.
  • Help maintain a safe and orderly environment of the facilities.
  • Performs any other duties assigned by management.

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Above average PC, Word processing, Excel spreadsheet, computerized accounting skills are necessary and email at a highly proficient level.
  • Demonstrates a positive attitude, energy, and professionalism. As well as trustworthy, respectful, and demonstrate sound work ethics.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively in both verbal and written communication in the primary language.
  • Familiar with manufacturing pull systems, inventory and production control and reading blueprints and BOM. (Strong plus)
  • Able to work overtime as needed.

Education and Experience

  • 1-2 years' experience.
  • Associates or Bachelors in Business strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of computer software programs such as Macola, Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.

Physical Demands

  • Prolonged periods sitting.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
  • Occasionally lift, push, pull and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Work Environment:

Majority of work performed in a general office environment. Position may require occasional availability for extended hours.
