Job description

Overview:
Poly-America, L.P. is currently seeking a Labor & Employment Attorney to join our legal team. Poly-America produces several lines of polyethylene products including high-quality trash bags, construction films, and agricultural films.

Responsibilities:
The Attorney will be primarily responsible for providing in-house legal counsel relating to all labor and employment matters and managing outside counsel on matters relating to labor and employment issues. The Attorney will also have responsibility for reviewing, advising, and managing contracts with third parties as well as providing support to the General Counsel on various other legal issues as required by the various business units. Experience with a variety of legal areas and issues encountered in a corporate environment, especially regulatory and compliance issues, is a plus.

Job Responsibilities

Provide in-house legal counsel on labor and employment related matters, which may include, but not limited to, human resources issues, wage and hour law, workers' compensation, unemployment, labor relations, employee benefits, employment agreements, corporate policy issues, FMLA matters and other state or federally-mandated leave, managing employment-related litigation or arbitration, and generally advise the Legal Department and the Human Resources Department.

Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.

Identify and assess legal risks and opportunities within the labor and employment area and provide reasoned, researched advice directly to decision-makers.

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess:

A law degree from an ABA-accredited law school.

Admitted to practice, or reasonable expectation of being able to obtain admission to practice, in at least one of the following states: Texas (preferred), Minnesota, Nevada, or South Carolina.

Experience with labor and employment law in a firm or corporate setting required. Prior exposure to a wide variety of legal issues is a plus.
