Aerial Lineman

Job description

A successful Aerial Line Person shall access specific areas to install, maintain, and/or repair a customer's telecommunications fiber optic cabling. At a minimum, the position requires a good working knowledge of telecommunications construction; familiarity with aerial lift devices, utility lines and poles, and the functionality of each; ability to use cable placement equipment and tools; ability to identify and troubleshoot problems.

Essential Functions:

the ability to work safely, with or without supervision;

the ability to work standing, at shoulder height and overhead, for extended periods;

the ability to lift and manipulate lasher and other cable placement equipment;

the ability to work aloft, either from a ladder, aerial lift device, or by gaffing;excellent manual dexterity;

the ability to follow instructions and communicate verbally and in writing;

the ability to operate equipment, including, but not limited to an aerial lift device, lasher, and hand tools, and understanding the functioning thereof;

This position requires significant time doing manual labor functions, walking on uneven ground, working in tight spaces and in general, being overall physically demanding. Must be able to perform heavy physical work and perform duties in a safe and efficient manner. Willing to travel to assigned work locations. Must be able to work flexible hours with the understanding that workdays can be in excess of normal hours and some weekend and holiday work may be required.

Job Type: Contract

Pay: $20.00 per hour

Experience:

• Lineman: 2 years (Required)
• Installation of FST's: 1 year (Required)
• jigging and lashing: 2 years (Required)
• pole climbing: 1 year (Required)
