Job description
Develop, structure, close, and implement business opportunities in North America (USA and Canada), aligned with the ENGIE Networks strategy, as the Power Infrastructure & Transmission Lines Business Development Director.
In this role, you will lead the identification and development of opportunities, including structuring, negotiation, and hand-over to implementation, as well as put together and lead internal and external project teams.
This position will report directly to the Head of Business Development North America & Americas Growth Support and will be based in Houston, TX. Other ENGIE office locations to be considered.
What you'll do:
- Market understanding, origination & positioning
- Gather knowledge and strong market understanding of market design, regulation, and key energy trends within the Networks GBU scope in North America, with a focus on power infrastructure, transmission lines, and distribution
- Qualify opportunities, prioritize and formulate strategies and business plans
- Identify relevant transactions within the Power Infrastructure scope, effectively positioning ENGIE in North America in large power T&D infrastructure
- Establish strong relationships with key contacts and/or influence other stakeholders in the key focus areas as described above
- Cultivate strong relationships with key information sources, including but not limited to trade and business associations, investment banks, financial institutions, non-profit organizations, relevant legal firms, and consultants, to ensure ENGIE remains at forefront of Power Infrastructure knowledge trends in North America
- Participate in internal (e.g. Networks GBU) and external activities (e.g. industry meetings, speaking opportunities, other information sources) as appropriate to remain at the knowledge forefront
- Develop an understanding of Power Infrastructure business strategies and plans in order to ensure alignment with Networks GBU
- Business Development
- Lead the development of new strategies and business models, and the improvement of existing ones to improve market acceptance, competitiveness, and/or efficiency, taking into consideration inputs from other areas regarding market evolution and requirements from stakeholders
- Coordinate, lead, and win commercially viable transactions within Power Infrastructure in the key focus areas as described above
- Lead all commercial aspects developing bid proposals, structuring transactions, and economic analyses, combining ENGIE competitive advantages and thus increasing probability of success
- Identify and maintain strong relationships with equity investment partners and other capital providers, and participate in negotiations of partnership and other project company agreements, as well as financing documents as necessary
- Cultivate and maintain excellent and mutually beneficial working relationships with internal teams within ENGIE to develop and close transactions
What you bring:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or other related fields
- Postgraduate education specific to power markets in North America, transmission and/or distribution, is desirable
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in the electricity sector, having worked in power transmission & distribution
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in Business Development in the power transmission industry, preferably in the United States
- Commercial experience with medium and large entities, negotiating large contracts, with different contracting schemes
- Experience in M&A and structuring deals with partners is desirable
