Responsibilities:
As a Director - Employee Relations with Hines, you will oversee a wide range of employee relations (ER) activities in four verticals: Employee/Labor Relations, HR Compliance, Employee Experience, and Employee Health and Safety. You will lead the ER team that advises leadership and employees on HR programs, company practices, and policies, including federal, state and local employment laws. In addition, partners with other HR leaders and key stakeholders to lead/champion initiatives that drive engagement and optimize the overall employee experience. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Employee/Labor Relations

Provides strategic direction and a proactive approach to the ER function by contributing forward-thinking ideas and ensuring processes/practices meet departmental and organizational needs; initiates change as needed to streamline efficiencies, improves customer service, and ensures legal compliance.

Provides coaching and counsel involving workplace conflicts or allegations of policy violations; conducts internal investigations as appropriate and works to ensure issues are properly addressed.

Provides supportive leadership to ER team by capitalizing on each person's strengths, coaching individuals for optimal performance, and helping staff achieve personal and career aspirations.

Partners with legal counsel as needed to prepare for necessary mediations, arbitration, and production of documents for legal proceedings.

Coordinates with International HR representatives on the communication and/or rollout of ER-related initiatives that are applicable and align with the goals of their respective countries.

Direct responsibility for the Employee Relations budget and related financial responsibilities (e.g., approving expense reports, invoices, etc.) and ensures the department operates in a cost-efficient manner.

Leverages internal statistics, data, and trends to drive and sustain initiatives that support Hines' strategic plan and continually improve performance.

Facilitates, participates, and collaborates in interdepartmental committees, focus groups and training sessions and, as well as speaks at internal conferences to ensure ER priorities are integrated into company operations.

Oversees requests for internal ad hoc reporting with respect to employment trends/demographics and assists with RFPs when needed

Assists with the development/refinement of HR-related training and development programs

HR Compliance

Oversee ER team who supports the following:Continuously monitors current legal trends and new or changed state and federal laws and regulations impacting employees

Sends HR COE leads routine updates on relevant compliance changes impacting their department

Serves as thought partner with other COE leads on how they can best implement operational changes needed to stay legally compliant with all local, state, and federal, laws

Responsible for ensuring legal compliance for all areas related to ER

Employee ExperienceIn partnership with Senior Manager and Specialist:

Develop and continually refine a framework for defining employee/workplace experience. Build understanding of this framework throughout the firm and support efforts to share it externally

Leads the Global employee engagement survey and pulse surveys

Designs, plans, and implements programs, surveys and other measures in partnership with HR, regional leadership and other key stakeholders to promote and enhance employee engagement and productivity; Opportunities include, but not limited to:

Leads the Global employee engagement survey and pulse surveys

Ongoing review and strategic review on how best to leverage exit data

Future of workplace

Employee Health and Safety

Provides strategic guidance and oversight of the Senior Manager of Health & Safety related to global health & safety and security function, including but not limited to Emergency Management/Preparedness, Business Continuity Plans (from a Health & Safety perspective), Travel Security, and Occupational Health & Safety.

Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements include:

Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field from an accredited institution.

Seven or more years work experience in Human Resources, including three in an HR Business Partner or ER managerial role.

Strong working knowledge of employment law.

Union and multi-state employer experience strongly preferred.

Outstanding oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.

Relates well to all organizational levels, including the ability to make presentations to diverse audiences.

Exercises a strong customer service orientation, sense of urgency, ability to anticipate internal and external customer needs and acts accordingly.

Commitment to a Continuous Process Improvement (CPI) mindset.
