CobbFendley is seeking an experienced Natural Gas Distribution Project Manager in our Houston, Texas office.

The successful candidates most important qualifications include:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field of study from an ABET accredited institution.
  • P.E. License in the State of Texas, preferred, or able to acquire within 2 years of hire.
  • 10 - 15 years of progressive natural gas distribution design experience.
  • Previous experience as natural gas utility company employee and/or have worked as consulting engineer in a lead role is required.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D or MicroStation/Geopak.
  • Knowledge of design and construction practices for natural gas distribution pipeline and facilities is required.
  • Knowledge of design for city gates, interconnects, and regulator stations is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce construction plan sets independently. Motivation to work in a dynamic environment with strict deadlines.

Essential Functions:
  • Responsible for securing, managing, scheduling and coordination of all resources required to execute the project from proposal development and award through execution and contract close-out.
  • Perform project functions relating to production coordination, planning, organizing, directing, controlling, financial management, and marketing assistance.
  • Assists in evaluation and solution of potential field problems.
  • Perform quality control review of designs and projects concerning preliminary engineering reports, layouts, schematics, plans and specifications, and cost estimations.
  • Represent CobbFendley at client meetings and perform client coordination.
  • Identify and solicit project opportunities with current and potential clients.
  • Mentor Project Engineers and Technical Professionals to assist in their training and development.
  • Perform independent research and delegate changing priorities.
  • Work with minimal supervision and perform self QA/QC of work.
  • Adhere to CobbFendley's safety standards to uphold a safe and efficient environment.
  • Maintain a professional attitude and fulfill responsibilities with integrity.

Physical Requirements:
Sitting and/or standing for extended periods of time.
Mobility within the office including movement between floors and workstations.
Repeated motions (e.g., typing, reaching, bending, lifting, and carrying).
Communication with other employees and clients.

Environmental Factors:
Most work is performed in a professional office environment. Some trips to client offices and job sites for observations will be required.
Job site observations factors could include: walking and climbing on uneven surfaces, exposure to outdoor environments and extreme weather (heat and freezing temperatures), noise exposure, driving for extended periods of time, exposure to allergens (e.g., pollen, dust, cedar, sumac, poison ivy), exposure to construction and traffic work zones, possible hand and power tool use, and extended periods of Personal Protective Equipment use.
Extended use of electronic devices (e.g., computers, printers, copiers, scanners, plotters, and telephones).
Use of cutting tools and equipment (e.g., plotting equipment, rotary paper cutter).

Expected hours of work:
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM.
Occasional local day travel may be necessary. No overnight travel is anticipated for this position.
