Job description

We are currently looking for a dynamic individual as Purchasing Director - Raw Materials & Chemicals for our Purchasing Division at our global headquarters in The Woodlands, TX.

As the Purchasing Director, you are responsible to develop Huntsman's Americas regional procurement strategy as it relates to raw materials, chemicals, packaging and toll manufacturing required to support production and operations of Huntsman's Americas manufacturing facilities; oversee the purchasing activities of Huntsman's Americas raw materials and chemicals procurement team and support a culture of agility, collaboration and optimization; negotiate term and spot supply contracts as required; and maintain a close working relationship with Huntsman Business Centers to ensure the purchasing related needs and overall business strategies are supported. Coordinates closely with global purchasing leadership to leverage purchasing power between the regions.

As the Purchasing Director - Raw Materials & Chemicals, you will:

Negotiate term and spot raw material and chemical supply contracts as required by Huntsman Business Centers with a keen focus on ensuring goods are competitively priced and strategically purchased
Establish and maintain close lines of communication with the production facilities and business centers regarding the procurement of materials in the desired quantities and desired delivery requirements and to exchange raw material market information/forecast as needed to support business center and operational decision making
Ensure that goods are obtained from approved sources, meet existing quality and performance standards using proper purchasing practices which include ISO, Sarbanes-Oxley and Purchasing procedures while ensuring lowest Total Cost of Ownership and maximum value to bottom line
Collaborate with Americas business leadership to develop and maintain strategic sourcing strategies while ensuring productive multi-level supplier relationships
Provide leadership, guidance and developmental training to America team in a manner that promotes professional growth, job success and organizational upskilling
Drives sourcing methodology across all categories and teams
Actively participate in Americas Purchasing Leadership Team to assist in setting and implementing strategic objectives, policies, procedures and drive projects for the overall benefit of Huntsman
Provide Purchasing and Business Leadership with guidance, reports and updates on supplier issues and materials markets. Develop professional presentations on these topics to be communicated up and down the organization
Business related travel, business related functions and extended office hours as required
Work with internal EH&S and QA departments to track and mitigate supplier nonconformance issues

Skills and Experiences Required:

Bachelor's Degree and 10+ years of applicable chemical industry strategic level purchasing, supply chain/procurement experience
Must have demonstrated experience leading and directing teams
Required knowledge and experience negotiating contracts
Demonstrated organizational change management support for large, complex, enterprise-level initiatives
Knowledge of chemical raw materials and feedstocks, Huntsman businesses and markets is a plus
SAP experience/knowledge is a plus
Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) or documented progress toward this certification is a plus
Ability to travel 20% to 30% to locations across North, Central, and South America
Communicates tactfully and effectively both verbally and in writing and maintains effective work relations with those encountered during the course of employment
Flexibility and adaptability to new instructions and/or dynamic organizational priorities is critical for job success
An aptitude for analytical thinking and analysis is critical to job success
An aptitude for both strategic and creative thinking is critical to job success
