POSITION SUMMARY:

This research scientist will carry out molecular engineering, construction of antibody gene vectors, and expression of monoclonal antibodies. Will focus on projects to target intracellular proteins by antibodies. Will also carry out cell based assays and biochemical and biophysical characterizations of antibodies.

POSITION KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Design experiments and determine project feasibility in terms of time and resources.
  • Execute experiments in molecular cloning, protein biochemistry, mammalian cell culture, in vitro assays, and in vivo animal studies. Independently solve problems and interpret results.
  • Interpret and present results in both oral and written forms and to publish in peer reviewed journals.
  • Maintains lab equipment, assists in necessary repairs, and promotes a safe laboratory environment. Ensures direct reports follow safety procedures and attends basic safety training courses.
  • Provide guidance or training to people within the group and perform other duties as assigned.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


  • The research scientist will have significant experience in antibody engineering and humoral immunology during Ph.D and postdoc training and with a track record of publications. Qualified individuals should possess 1) the ability to design experiments, interpret and track results, and utilize this information to enable hypothesis generation; and 2) the ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment with strong communication skills. Preparation for manuscript and grant proposals are required. Supervision of junior researchers is expected.

    Five years or more postdoctoral research experience in antibody engineering, molecular biology, cell biology, and biochemistry-related experiments preferred. Publications in peer reviewed scientific journals.

    Minimum Education:

    Doctorate Degree.

    Minimum Experience:

    Two (2) years of experience in a related research environment and have verifiable publications within the field of the research project.

    Physical Requirements:

    Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
    This position may include work involving potentially hazardous chemical, biological or radioactive agents.
