Job description

Under the direction of the Public Works Director the Utility Equipment Operator performs preventative and corrective tasks under adverse weather conditions to include but not limited to: repair, maintenance, and installation of water and wastewater lines, valves, fire hydrants, lift stations, water/sanitary sewer mains, and manholes associated with the City's water distribution and wastewater collection systems; Performs general maintenance/repairs concerning water leaks, sanitary sewer back ups, street/sidewalk repairs, buildings, structures, grounds, machinery, equipment, parks, and drainage facilities; Assists with reading water meters monthly; Operates various machinery used in utilities / public works field. Backhoe experience desired; Position responds to complaints & work requests from the general public and is under monthly rotation for 24 hour call out emergencies; assists other departments with general maintenance duties to include special events; follows written/oral communications and performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED Required

TCEQ Class D Ground Water License Preferred; Ability to obtain Class C Ground Water Licence with (2) years of employment offer.

Valid Texas Driver's License Required along with acceptable driving record which meets City guidelines.

Previous Heavy Equipment Operator experience & hands on working knowledge of repairs/maintenance to water lines, sanitary sewer lines, & back ups, lift stations, and storm sewer systems.

Pay: $35,360.00 - $39,520.00 per year
