MicroGenDX is seeking a Laboratory Assistant to join RTL Genomics, a division of MicroGenDX.


Our mission at MicroGenDX is to improve clinical outcomes by offering clinicians and their patients the most informative and impactful microbial diagnostic tests that science can provide.

MicroGenDX is a CAP accredited and CLIA licensed clinical diagnostic referral laboratory. MicrogenDX is bringing state-of-the-art microbial DNA sequencing diagnostics to more patients every day - processing more than 100,000 samples each year and focused on revolutionizing patient outcomes with microbial diagnostics.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Laboratory Assistant's role is to assist with the preparation, running and analysis of (NGS) along with the development of novel assays and data-related protocols.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • B.S. degree in Biology, Biochemistry, or related fields.
  • Molecular lab experience, minimum 1 year

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • DNA/RNA extraction of research samples
  • Maintaining instruments and clean laboratory
  • Standard QA/QC documentation and activities
  • Result reporting
  • Reagent aliquoting
  • Aiding in the development of tests including performing validation studies
  • Any other duties as assigned by laboratory manager or other superiors/upper management

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Broad experience within genetics, molecular biology or very closely related subjects
  • Possess general clinical laboratory skills such as: pipetting, basic understanding of QA/QC activities, utilization of standard protocols, ability to critically think and troubleshoot, and proper specimen handling.
  • Capable of working independently or as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Basic computer skills including proficiency in MS Office
  • Experience with DNA/RNA Extraction and real-time qPCR a plus; however, not required

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. 60% sitting, 40% standing.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to access and navigate each department at the company's facilities.
