Please see the description below. This position is located Pasadena, TX. The pay for this position depends on experience.

  • Experience in design and construction of lab and pilot testing units, i.e., reactors and distillation columns, including instrumentation; knowledge and skill handling and working with glass equipment
  • Extensive hands-on experience and high attention to detail in operation and maintenance of laboratory and pilot-scale testing units
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Strong technical skills and ability to quickly learn chemical processes and technology
  • Ability to multi-task, manage time effectively, organize work, and meet deadlines.
  • Good mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting/root cause analysis skills
  • General foundation in chemistry nomenclature and safe handling of chemicals
  • Maintain good housekeeping practices to ensure high quality and compliance with Environmental, Health and Safety practices and policies.
  • Although not the norm for this position, must be able to work overtime when required (including evenings and weekends).

Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience in a chemical or petrochemical laboratory, pilot plant or semi-works facility.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Chemical Process Technology program or training desirable. Coursework in chemistry desirable.
  • Knowledge of Thermo Scientific software packages such as Atlas, Chromeleon and Sample Manager (LIMS).
  • Computer software skills including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Experience with operating process control software (i.e., LabView)
  • Ability to read technical drawings (P&ID's)
  • Knowledge of basic analytical methods and strong desire to learn new ones
  • Ability to conduct routine analytical tests using gas chromatography, titrators, etc.
  • Ability to develop specifications for instruments and equipment per project needs, identify suitable vendors, and obtain quotes for suitable products
  • Capable of independent work as well as the ability to work well with others
  • Ability to work in an environment where priorities may change quickly
