Position Overview : Business Analyst
Candidate will be required to have strong abilities to perform as a top performing Business Analyst as well as have experience and be comfortable with Data Aggregation, Data Visualization, Data Analysis, and Continuous Process Improvement.
As a Business Analyst on the EDW team, the candidate will identify and communicate with users to first understand their goals and challenges, understand and be able to define clear scope of work, recommend best possible process\system solutions, define proper test plan and scenarios, and finally produce requirement documentations and technical specifications for those solutions that are detailed, clear, and complete. This involves interaction with both internal and external project stakeholders.
Therefore, the position will require soft skills such as relationship management and basic negotiation skills to obtain the best possible outcomes for Safe-Guard and its clients.
For data, the candidate should be able to develop relevant and useful data-driven dashboards using BI tools that provide key information to the company. The candidate should be able to look beyond the data to understand its significance in the context of the rest of the company.
Successful Candidates will have a passion for continuous improvement in all processes (manual or system) and have the ability to understand, analyze and make recommendations to improve efficiency as well as quantify the savings gained from those improvements.
This position requires technical problem-solving skills that will be used to understand the root cause of problems and to develop reliable and scalable solutions. The candidate must be independent, able to work independently, have a proven ability to resolve complex business problems, and possess excellent communication skills.
This position supports a client based in Plano, TX and may be required to report to the office location
Essential Functions :
- Elicit, recommend solutions, and document detailed business requirements including technical specifications for any given assignment. Candidate should leverage user stories and process flows as needed.
- Works dynamically with multiple stakeholders (internally and externally) to coordinate and gather requirements for reporting or project related tasks.
- Serves as the liaison between IT and other functional departments on behalf of the client. Additionally, works to effectively communicate business needs to development team.
- Supports business functions daily for ad hoc requests (SQL queries, report analysis, etc.)
- Perform system support/administration that includes user support. Troubleshoot issues as they arise and manage users in application/system.
- Manages deployments/monthly activities across multiple development teams.
- Analyzes existing/new processes and database models to make recommendations on potential process improvements.
- Creates reports/dashboards with BI tools - MS BI tools, Tableau, Power BI, Looker, etc.
- Builds understanding of new technologies and manages implementations as these arise.
- Serves as a representative for the company and IT function while in front of the client (internal and external).
- Can work independently and accomplish tasks with little oversight.
- Uses analytical skills to dissect problems and develop viable solution that supports the business needs.
- Bachelor's degree in IT, Management Information Systems (MIS), Analytics, Business Administration, or related fields required. 3-4 years minimum Business Analyst experience required. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Proficient in MS Visio, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Word required.
- Proficient in BI Reporting & Visualization tools - Looker, Tableau, Power BI, SSRS, SSIS, etc. required.
- Advanced in SQL queries required.
- Understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) required.
- Project Management experience/skills preferred.
- IIBA Certification a Plus.
- Data Science skills a plus.
- Data modeling skills a plus.
- Excellent analytical and creative problem-solving skills.
- Excellent listening, interpersonal, written (email), and oral communication skills.
- Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks while under pressure.
- Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
