Job Description:

We are currently looking for a dynamic individual as a Laboratory Technician - Composites supporting our Advanced Materials Division at our Huntsman Advanced Technology Center located in The Woodlands, TX.

The candidate should be able to conduct physical and chemical laboratory tests to assist scientists in making qualitative and quantitative analyses of epoxies, curatives, and composite systems. This will include setting up chemical experiments, mechanical testing and analyses using techniques and methods commonly used in the composites industry.

This candidate should also be capable of understanding, operating, and maintaining complex fabrication and testing equipment used in the composites industry.

The candidate should also be proficient with regards to organizing, recording, and summarizing data using tools such as Microsoft Word and Excel spreadsheets. Participate in analyzing data by identifying the underlying principles, reasons or facts of information by breaking down information into separate parts.

As the Laboratory Technician - Composites, you will:

• Basic formulation knowledge and an understanding of raw materials used in the composites industry
• Produce and record accurate data for R&D projects.
• Manage lab equipment, raw material procurement and chemical inventory.
• Knowledge of physical test methods related to resin and composite properties.
• Ability and willingness to meet demanding project timelines and productivity pressures.
• Organizing assignments in a manner that maximizes work efficiency without sacrificing quality.

Educational and Experience Requirements:

• Associate's Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Technology or related technology and 3 - 5 years industrial research including testing, processing, and mechanical operations in a lab setting
• Good mechanical aptitude and knowledge of the equipment used in composite manufacturing
• Previous experience with testing equipment
• Previous experience with thermoset chemistry
• Previous experience with composites
• Good knowledge process operations, mechanical part fabrication and testing
• Excellent skills in thorough, concise, and timely oral and written communication.
• Strong work ethics
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Must have a good level of proficiency with Internet, Email, and Microsoft programs
