The Study Design and Biostatistics Center (SDBC) at the University of Utah is seeking MS level biostatisticians to join a team of approximately 20 biostatisticians and epidemiologists to collaborate with clinical and translational researchers in biomedical research. The successful candidates will work effectively in a multidisciplinary group setting in areas of study design, statistical programming, data management, data analysis, graphical presentation of data and writing of reports which include explanations of the statistical methods used and interpretation of results. The work environment includes mentorship by experienced statisticians and continuous opportunities for training and professional development. The successful candidates will have skills in data analysis, strong interest in continuously learning new statistical methods, mastery of at least one of the statistical programming languages SAS or R, and excellent communication skills. The successful candidate will also have the ability to create analysis data sets to meet the specifications of individual projects while adhering to internal standards and guidelines, perform program validation, document programs, and provide consistent maintenance of statistical software.
Education:
A master's degree in statistics, biostatistics or related field (epidemiology, applied mathematics, public health and computer science).
Responsibilities
We are seeking a biostatistician who is capable of meeting independently with clinical investigators and health service researchers to clarify study objectives and write statistical analysis plans, carry out sample size calculations, conduct statistical analyses, write reports to present results of statistical analyses, prepare graphical summaries of data, and assist in presentations and publications. Solid knowledge of statistical methods including multiple regression, longitudinal data analysis, categorical data analysis and survival analysis strongly preferred. Prior experience in health services research and analysis of electronic health record data is desired by not required.

Minimum Qualifications
This position requires an MS degree in statistics, biostatistics, or a related field and at least five years of relevant experience. Candidates must be familiar with a wide range of basic and advanced statistical techniques and have expert knowledge of at least one statistical programming language such as SAS or R. Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); An ability to work on several projects simultaneously and manage deadlines, and; Excellent communication skills, including the ability to clearly explain statistical techniques and present data results, are also required.
Preferences
Minimum Preferred Skills:
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to document work through statistical analysis plans and reports
* Demonstrated expertise in either the SAS or R statistical programming languages
* Interest in learning new statistical methods
* Strong organization skills and the ability to handle a demanding workload and balance multiple tasks
* Highly motivated and able to work in an interdisciplinary group setting
* At least 3 years of experience in a statistical consulting or statistical programmer role
* Prior experience with big data, data visualization, reproducible programming
* Prior experience in a biomedical research
* Prior experience in the analysis of large administrative data sets is desirable
