The Cogito Business Analyst works full-time to meet end-user data needs, serving as a primary operational reporting resource on the Epic Project Team. This individual is responsible for validating Epic foundation system reports and identifying, building, and delivering advanced clinical, business, and operational reports for report consumers. This individual analyzes and defines report requirements; documents specifications, designs, develops, tests, installs, implements, and maintains operational reports for assigned clinical and revenue applications. The Cogito Business Analyst is a member of the Epic Reporting Team and reports directly to the Cogito Project Manager/ Director of Business Intelligence and Integration.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Business Administration, Health Care Administration, Clinical Information Systems, Informatics, Information Technology, or Sciences, Health Information Management, or approved equivalent combination of education and experience. Three years of additional related experience may be substituted in lieu of educational requirement.
5 years of progressive healthcare industry experience preferably in a hospital or major medical center clinical setting, including business systems report writing experience and/or IT system deployment experience as a clinical analyst, business analyst or systems analyst with multiple technology implementations preferred.
3 years or more experience with requirements definition of clinical reporting needs, systems analysis, SDLC, developing a test plan and executing test scenarios to validate data in reports. Solid technical/database experience.
Knowledge of operational healthcare hospital workflows including clinical and business workflow analysis for development of electronic solutions within assigned applications is preferred.
Hands-on Epic clinical or revenue systems experience with appropriate Epic training in at least one area is preferred. Demonstrated technical administrative experience with Epic clinical and/or revenue applications with associated reporting experience. Experience supporting Epic clinical or revenue systems, with design, build and validate experience preferred.
Experience with Epic clinical and/or revenue reporting. At least 2 years of experience designing, building, testing and supporting Epic Reporting Workbench/Operational reports for the clinical and/or revenue applications/end users.
Experience in reporting within various Epic modules, including Epic Inpatient, Ambulatory, OpTime, Cupid, Radiant, Stork, ASAP, Beaker, Grand Central, HIM, Cadence, Prelude, and/or Hospital and Professional Billing.
Experience with MIPS, Meaningful Use, Core Measures, and other quality measures, both outpatient and inpatient, is highly preferred.
Experience with the following is required or highly desirable: Reporting Workbench, Radar, Cogito Tools Administration, Clarity, Caboodle Data Models
Knowledge of SQL, Crystal Reports, SAP Business Objects, Tableau, Universes/ WebIntelligence Reports highly preferred.
Other Qualifications:Epic certification in a clinical, revenue, or reporting application is strongly preferred. Any certification(s) related to reporting software/ tools, and/or clinical and/or revenue specializations may be acceptable combined with attending a multi-week Epic training program and obtaining an associated certification.
Specifically, the two certifications below will be required within six months of Epic training program completion:COG170, Cogito Fundamentals
COG200v, Cogito Tools Administration
Epic Training Recommended: Certification in Fundamentals for at least one of the applications the Cogito Business Analyst will be writing reports for (Ambulatory, Cadence, Prelude, Professional Billing)
Responsibilities:
Well-versed in end-user workflows. It's recommended, though not required, that they be familiar with data structures
Familiarity with Epic reporting tools
Familiarity with the Foundation System reports available for the applications they are working with

Works with the Cogito Project Manager, Radar Administrator, and Reporting Workbench Administrator to complete reporting build
Works with the Cogito Project Manager and Business Intelligence Developers (BIDs) to identify appropriate solutions for various reporting needs
Works with the Reporting Workbench Administrator to review and approve existing Reporting Workbench templates and create any needed additional templates
Works with reporting subject matter experts to identify the needs of report consumers
Works with subject matter experts and business intelligence developers to design specifications for custom report requests
Assists the Cogito Principal Trainer with developing training curriculum and training power reporting users
Identifies subject matter experts to attend reporting content design sessions
Facilitates report content design and establishes report scope and prioritization
Assists with translation of end-user workflow-based report requests to specific data points required for report development
Facilitates and maintains the Analytics Catalog
Facilitates build and maintenance of all extracts, working with third party vendors as appropriate
Builds Radar dashboards for report consumers with the support of the Radar Administrator
Builds Reporting Workbench reports, templates, and extracts for the application
Develops reports and dashboards to support clinical and revenue initiatives long-term
Completes Radar setup for custom SQL metrics
Creates data for report testing and ensures that all application dashboards and reports are tested
Ensures that consumers are satisfied with reports and distribution tools
Performs post-live volume testing and evaluates overall consumer happiness with reports
