Description
SAIC is seeking a Technical Writer/Editor with technical domain experience to work with the Department of Defense, Deputy Director Research & Engineering (DDRE) Research and Technology (R&T) office.
- Write and edit technical documents including briefings, papers, general correspondence, and briefings for grammar, punctuation, formatting, and clarity
- Assess and integrate technical and visual information from multiple sources into well-structured and professionally articulated products
- Facilitate appropriate review and clearance through Public Affairs and the Office of Security Review
- Assess and evaluate technical content against mission objectives and strategic messaging guidance to deliver written and visual products for both internal and external audiences
- Facilitate collection and dissemination of materials for coordination and approval
- Format documents according to Office of Secretary of Defense standards
- Work with diverse groups to reach agreement on content
- Interview subject matter experts to obtain content
- Perform document configuration control and storage
- Collate, edit, format, and refine DDRE-level reports
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- Bachelors in Communication, English, or related field and six (6) years of relevant experience
- Experience writing in engineering or other highly technical domains
- Expert skills in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
- Familiarity with Congressional activities, proposals, and reports
- Experience and skill to interact with technical experts in systems engineering
- Familiarity with document coordination and work flow practices
Clearance:
- Active Secret security clearance
Desired Qualifications
- Masters in Communication, English, or related field and four (4) years of relevant experience
- Experience on Capitol Hill preferred
