Summit Ridge Energy ("SRE") is seeking a Vice President, Business Development - Energy Storage to drive growth within their US Energy Storage business. The successful candidate will lead our selling and project developing efforts, developing strategies, and closing business as we enter markets across the US to provide energy storage solutions in the utility, distributed, and commercial space. Further, the VP will lead M&A activities to grow the pipeline, identify greenfield opportunities, originate C&I, muni, and other relationships and build strategies to meet the ever-evolving energy storage landscape. The position is based out of our headquarters in Arlington, Virginia. The role will report directly to the SVP, Business Development.
Summit Ridge Energy (SRE) is the nation's leading owner-operator of community solar assets with emerging energy storage and greenfield development pipeline. We acquire, develop, construct, and operate solar energy and energy storage projects across the United States. The Summit Ridge team also manages our own dedicated funding vehicle which is used to own and operate community solar assets. Role and Responsibilities:
- Develop strategies to enter new markets to provide complete energy storage product offering
- Generate a 1GW pipeline of energy storage projects across several core SRE markets in the first year
- Identify and lead M&A activities for mature storage development projects or portfolios
- Lead due diligence streams and transaction business case and present for investment committee approvals
- Assist with developing strategic relationships with Tier 1 equipment suppliers
- Prepare comprehensive market screening and heat maps to focus development origination efforts in core markets
- Develop relationships with C&I, municipalities, hospitals, schools, and universities to provide behind-the-meter and other value opportunities
- Prepare and/or review complex financial and market analysis and asset/portfolio valuations and be able to present that analysis to senior leadership
- Develop business case and investment committee materials to present for approval of executive committees
Required Skills/Competencies:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Engineering, or a related field
- 10-15 years of experience in business development, sales, M&A, and development
- Exceptional strategic, analytical, financial modeling, and valuation skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience delivering presentations to senior leadership considering investment opportunities
- Organized and detail-oriented with an ability to thrive in a fast-paced organization.
- Self-directed and motivated with the ability to work independently but also as part of a team
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite of products, and exceptional skills in Excel.
