Junior Finance Analyst

Responsibilities:
We depend on our Grants and Finance team to provide financial management of college-level research centers and programs, review department and center expenditures, review sponsored project proposals and contribute to the ongoing evolution and management of our financial processes. The incumbent will serve a critical role of maintaining the financial operations; initiating complex purchases for assigned units and other financial transactions compliant with university, state, and federal regulations, updating existing finance guides/processes, and developing and documenting new financial procedures. Working collaboratively with the Grants and Finance team, the incumbent will also generate and distribute operational reports regularly, maintain the tracking logs, and manage our college-wide finance calendars. This junior-level position provides opportunities to learn finance operations, develop new skills, and grow in the position due to a wide breadth of responsibilities.
Required Qualifications:
- Demonstrated knowledge of fiscal and budgetary processes;
- Knowledge of general accounting principles;
- Strong collaboration and team-building skills to facilitate relationships for the college with internal and external customers;
- Ability to effectively and efficiently communicate;
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially intermediate Excel skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Knowledge of related state and federal laws, rules and regulations;
- Experience in organizing and documenting processes;
- Experience with a large public institution;
- Experience working with relational databases;
- Experience in handling confidential data (highly preferred);
- Ability to research, investigate, analyze, reconcile and evaluate data;
- Ability to work independently with strong organizational, interpersonal communication and multitasking skills;
- Ability to work collaboratively and meet deadlines;
- Strong customer service mentality.
