Job description

Brief Summary of Role Responsibilities

Participates in research and development activities linked to new product and material initiatives, using established scientific techniques. Primary area of responsibility will be in material development for liquid filtration and bio-separation, including the documentation and assessment of the results.


Duties & Responsibilities

  • Maintain a safe working environment in and around the laboratory;
  • Have good verbal and written command of English & presentation skills;
  • Be willing and able to conduct experimental work and analysis and have a 'hands-on' attitude;
  • Ensure all local laws and regulations regarding chemical consumption, production and transportation are met including compliance with safety guidelines and support of Environmental Health Safety initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain laboratory policies and procedures;
  • Determine project goals in consultation with the global Technology team;
  • Support the selection and onboarding of new team members and be able to work as part of a team;
  • Understanding the requirements associated with maintaining a good laboratory environment; Ensure that laboratory procedures and documentation comply and comply with all safety regulations;
  • Fundamental understanding of environmental regulatory agencies and requirements (e.g. OSHA, TSCA, Reach);
  • Familiar with the use of Typical laboratory instrumentation e.g., DSC, FTIR, spectrophotometer for determining protein and bacterial concentrations;
  • Responsible for the selection and maintenance of laboratory test equipment;
  • Responsible for inventory and the ordering laboratory consumables;
  • Support the activities of fellow Scientists and Technicians, whilst developing their technical and personal skillset to the maximum;
  • Drive and support potential prototype technology design;
  • Responsible for the technology transfer of promising technology candidates to the Technology Development team;
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance in the specific areas of polymer chemistry and media development. Be self motivated and updated in polymer technology and analytic laboratory techniques
  • Review patent landscape and be able to identify new patent opportunities
  • Active collaboration with Technician workforce;
  • Presentation to various internal audiences;
  • Write-up of technical reports, and preparation of training materials, Standard Operating Procedures;
  • 10% travel time (other HV sites, customers and vendors, conferences, committees, training etc.);
  • Drive advanced materials development programs supported by cross-functional teams from conceptual ideas to full-scale production and commercialization
  • Perform competitive intelligence and market survey reviews;
  • Project management with frequent team updates;
  • Involvement in intense interaction with customers, including providing technical support and validation
  • Strive for continuous improvements in product, process and add value to customers
  • Conduct Safety and Quality audits and report NCs; provide solutions to prevent future occurences.



Necessary Education & Experience

  • Ph.D. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science, Material Science or related field, OR
  • MS degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Polymer or Material Science, with atleast three years relevant work experience.
