About the job:
The Red Hat Public Sector Consulting team is looking for a Consultant to join us in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. In this role, you will work directly with Red Hat's customers and partners to implement platform solutions using open source software, specifically Red Hat's software. You'll work on-site with the customers to analyze, design, develop, test, and deploy the solutions according to the customers' business requirements. As a Consultant, you'll need to have a thorough working knowledge of and practical experience with system infrastructure, Identity Management (IdM), and Single Sign-On (SSO) technologies. Engagements can range from single week engagements to multi-year engagements, and every engagement will be assigned a delivery manager that you will work with to deliver success to customers. This is a remote position with weekly Monday-Thursday travel to customer sites, following Red Hat's COVID-19 guidelines, and can be located anywhere in North America within close proximity to an airport. Successful applicants must reside in a state where Red Hat is registered to do business and hold an active Top Secret clearance.
What you will do:
Routinely assess, design, and implement Red Hat's core offerings, including Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), Red Hat Satellite, Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform, Red Hat Virtualization, and IdM and Single Sign-On
Serve as a subject matter expert at customer sites, addressing the technical, developmental, or strategic IT needs
Manage problem identification, system architecture definition, software specification and design, testing, and deployment of complex open source solutions
Proactively assist customers with design, development, and management of their system provisioning strategy
Respond to incidents, escalations, and exceptions in a professional manner
Integrate third-party applications to Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), including monitoring and system performance tools, as well as backup and restore agents
What you will bring:
3+ years of experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) system security, system deployment, and system administration
Excellent proactive problem-solving and consulting skills
Highly motivated with the ability to learn on your own, as well as quickly pick up new technologies and best practices
Excellent communication skills, including writing skills
Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) or willingness to pursue this certification
Security+ certification or willingness to pursue this certification
Active Top Secret security clearance
