Our client was formed in 2001 and is comprised of two long/short hedge fund strategies that collectively manage $95 million in assets. In 2006 the company merged into a larger investment platform that has over $20B in assets. Position:

The Research Analyst / Co-Head of Business Development will report directly to the Portfolio Manager ("PM") / Founder. The primary responsibilities will include collaborating to source, research, and maintain a portfolio of long and short positions as well as working closely with the PM/ Founder to grow AUM, manage new and existing investors, help manage/lead the business and special projects. The role requires an entrepreneurial spirit, strong work ethic and drive to create value for investors. It requires someone to have a passion for studying businesses and what makes them great and durable. We are looking for a creative thinker who can collect and connect dots in unique ways. This role is for an individual with a "client first" mentality and a desire to win. Compensation will increase / scale with firm assets, incentivizing this individual to help grow assets through research, fundraising, and investor engagement.

Candidate:

  • Bachelor's degree required, MBA or CFA desirable
  • Minimum three years experience in buy-side investing at an asset manager, hedge fund, or private equity firm
  • Minimum seven years of financial services industry experience
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills to articulate strengths and weaknesses of potential investments
  • Solid interpersonal skills and ability to connect to form meaningful working partnerships
  • Inclusive team player with a collaborative and cooperative approach
  • Strong work ethic and humble
  • Results-driven mindset. Proactive, ambitious, and a desire to win mentality
  • Demonstrates transparent, direct, and open communication across the organization
  • A desire to live and work in Richmond, Virginia area



Compensation:

This role's compensation will include base salary plus incentive bonuses based on the success/growth of the two investment platforms. This incentive bonus, which we expect to materially increase over time, will align with the success/growth of the platforms and will be based upon the Research Analyst's performance and business development contributions. Therefore, the role's compensation will grow in correlation with the performance with significant upside potential as the business scales.
