WEST Coast Aquatics is seeking an energetic and personable addition to our aquatics staff. This 32 hour per week job is split between lifeguarding, instructing swim lessons and managing facility maintenance.
Compensation
Base Pay: This is a salaried position and will be determined based on the qualifications and experience of the individual upon hire.
Benefits: This position includes full medical, vision and dental insurance.
End-Of-Year Bonus: during profitable years, the board will award a portion of profits to be split between employees based on individual performance, contribution and longevity.
Certification Renewal: WEST will reimburse or cover the cost of renewing Lifeguard and CPR certifications to ensure this employee remains current.
Weekly Schedule
Monday-Wednesday: 7am-12pm
Thursday: 5am-12pm
Friday: 5am-3pm
Lifeguard Duties
This person will be the primary lifeguard on duty during our weekday morning shift. During this time, the daily opening duties will be completed and the pool will be monitored while patrons swim. Lifeguards are responsible for maintenance duties during each shift such as cleaning locker rooms, scrubbing pool decks, washing glass doors and windows and general tidying up.
Lessons Instructor Duties
This role includes teaching our daytime swim lessons. Classes are small and children are between 3 and 10 years old. Classes are scheduled to run 10am-12pm Monday through Thursday. In the event that classes are not running the additional time will be utilized for non-regular maintenance projects instead.
Pool & Facility Maintenance
Facility maintenance includes basic grounds upkeep such as trimming hedges, leaf blowing, and mowing grass. This role is responsible for basic pool equipment maintenance such as filter cleaning, chemical inventory, pool vacuuming and will assist with emergency issues should they arise.

Necessary Experience
Must have prior lifeguard experience and should be currently Lifeguard and CPR certified by either American Red Cross or YMCA. Must have basic mechanical skills or knowledge of how pools operate. Prior experience instructing or teaching children is an advantage and must be able to pass a background check.
Requirements
Lifeguard & CPR Certified: Must be capable of obtaining American Red Cross Lifeguarding & CPR Certification. We prefer if this candidate is already certified, but we regularly offer classes throughout the year and will reimburse the cost of renewals for our employees.
Strong Customer Service Skills: This position is a gateway of communication to our community. This person will interact with customers, vendors, parents, athletes and must be outgoing, friendly and personable, yet able to enforce WEST rules and policies.
Detail Oriented & Self Starting: This is a unique position across different areas of our organization. This person must be reliable and able to balance between different roles and their demands.
Physical Requirements: must be able to lift 50lbs, use power tools, equipment and have a basic understanding of pool mechanics.
