Description

This is the ideal position for an experienced HR support individual who is seeking an opportunity to learn and grow in the areas of leaves of absence, Workers' Compensation, reasonable accommodations, employee relations, and labor relations. The HR Generalist works closely with the other members of the Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) team to implement key human resource and business operations objectives. 50% of the role is related to leaves of absence and Workers' Compensation, particularly intermittent leaves of absence, return to work and reasonable accommodation processes. The remaining 50% of the role provides administrative/clerical support to the HRBP team by:

  • Entering and reporting on a variety of Human Resources data points, including unemployment claims, legal issues, Workers' Compensation costs, Department of Motor Vehicle (DMV) driving records, and other reports as requested
  • Scheduling meetings, reserving rooms, and making catering and other arrangements
  • Preparing materials for HR trainings
  • Drafting documents using templates
  • Coordinating revisions and updates to select Human Resources policies in Lucidoc
  • Screening employee eligibility for education and award opportunities
  • Reviewing HR processes for LEAN implementation opportunities
  • Coordinating and working cooperatively on special projects as needed

License, Certification, Education or Experience:

REQUIRED for the position:
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field or combination of equivalent education/experience
  • 2 years of progressive Human Resources generalist experience, preferably in a unionized, health care setting
  • Effective written and oral communication skills and interpersonal skills
  • Effective analytical ability and accurate keyboarding skills
  • Ability to organize, plan and prioritize multiple tasks with attention to detail while managing multiple complex projects and priorities to successfully meet deadlines
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and HR-related software (PeopleSoft/Oracle, Performance Manager, Talentwise)

DESIRED for the position:
  • Professional in Human Resources (PHR) or Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification
  • Society for Human Resource Management Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP)
