Summary / Objective:

The Senior Financial Analyst applies analytical thought processes and reporting expertise to translate financial and clinical data into impactful financial analyses. The analyst will report to the Director of Finance and, under minimal supervision, manage specific assigned responsibilities as it relates to budgets, cost accounting, and financial decision support. The analyst will develop custom reports/dashboards and ensure the accuracy of financial models that support operational and strategic decision making for multiple lines of business. Additionally, the analyst will perform forecasting for value-based contracts.

Essential Functions:

  • Provide expert level financial analysis and decision support activities on complex financial assignments/projects
  • Prepares accurate financial analysis within prescribed time frames
  • Performs various financial analysis and modeling for departments and company initiatives. This includes, but is not limited to, product line profitability, proforma development, and evaluation of new and existing programs.
  • Maintain detailed knowledge of CMS innovation models (e.g. Bundle Payment Initiatives, MSSP Enhanced, Direct Contracting, Next Generation Accountable Care Organizations, etc.)
  • Complete financial analysis of CMS innovation models to evaluate and report financial performance by organization, network, or provider practice.
  • Develop and maintain financial dashboards for reporting value related metrics
  • Develop, modify, and maintain custom reports for both ad-hoc and ongoing needs
  • Perform analysis and reporting activities related to risk score calculations, revenue (PMPM), claims data, IBNR/IBNP data, and any related performance metrics
  • Completes the budget and variance reporting processes
  • Along with the Director, leads the process and preparation of the annual operating and capital budget, annual budget targets, and as needed reports necessary for review by executive leadership.
  • Support and assure accurate completion of departmental and organizational budgets
  • Resolves budget issues and reports unresolved issues to the Director
  • Completes schedules as required by executive leadership or the Director
  • Manage the variance reporting process, including preparation of monthly financial and statistical reporting for departments and executive leadership.
  • Maintain and update revenue and expense forecasts
  • Analyze revenue and claims data to identify and report drivers of budget variance and forecast
  • Participate as a proactive team member of the Finance Department
  • Proactive in the resolution of issues
  • Exceed internal and external customer expectations by always providing professional and personalized service
  • Continue own education by staying informed of industry trends and actively participating in professional development
  • Continuously review assigned areas of responsibility and give suggestions to the Director on how to enhance service/products.
  • Actively collaborates with other financial team members to assess needs and proactively leverage subject matter expertise improve financial performance and decision making.

Required Education and/or Work Experience:

  • Minimum of three (3) years' of financial analysis experience in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • At least two (2) years' experience in the healthcare field working with Medicare programs
  • Must be able to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline driven environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, Accounting or equivalent from an accredited university.

  • Preferred Education and/or Work Experience: Master's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or related field or Certified Public Accountant license.
  • Five (5) years' of financial analysis experience in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Three (3) years' experience in the healthcare field.
  • Advanced understanding of the Medicare Advantage or CMMI Innovation programs
