Job description
Facebook is seeking a highly motivated and experienced team player for a role on Facebook's legal privacy team to advise on a range of privacy and security-related legal initiatives connected to advertising, including emerging regulatory and legal developments. Working closely with product counsel, you will advise on the full range of Facebook's products and provide privacy related legal advice on advertising related initiatives. This role requires flexibility and comfort with working on numerous projects simultaneously, with varied stakeholders. You will be working on industry leading projects, ensuring commitment to privacy and compliance with applicable laws and regulations. A successful candidate is excited about taking on and leading complex privacy projects, thrives in a fast-paced environment and can seamlessly drive success working with multiple cross-functional stakeholders to accomplish bold things. You must also be a self-starter, able to identify issues early and drive to resolution independently.
Lead Counsel, Privacy Ads Responsibilities
* Develop and maintain subject matter expertise in areas of data use and protection laws (including state and federal consumer protection and privacy laws, GDPR and other global privacy laws) and advise on the impact of the same on Facebook's business
* Assist product lawyers in evaluating the impact of privacy laws, regulatory guidance and enforcement actions, and other related guidelines on product features
* Support members of the legal, business, and policy teams on privacy and security-related legal matters, including areas related to partnerships, acquisitions, integrations, and other business development opportunities
* Drive high-profile and high-impact projects involving privacy analysis and compliance with stakeholders across Facebook's business, policy, legal, communications, security, and other departments
* Develop regulatory strategy with global privacy regulators in connection with new product features and initiatives and maintain Facebook's ongoing privacy-by-design processes
* Help draft and oversee the development and management of Facebook's (and its affiliates') terms and data policies across the full range of Facebook's different products
* Manage internal privacy compliance programs and processes to ensure we meet our obligations under those programs
* Assist product lawyers in evaluating the impact of privacy laws, regulatory guidance and enforcement actions, and other related guidelines on product features
Minimum Qualifications
* J.D. degree (or foreign equivalent) and membership in at least one US state bar
* 5+ years of legal experience, including at a law firm and/or in-house experience
* Experience with litigation, regulatory, or product counseling
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience with global privacy laws, regulations, and industry guidelines, especially including those relevant for social media and Internet companies
* Experience advancing projects in a multi-stakeholder environment
* Experience using business judgment and with client counseling
* Experience prioritizing work, providing advice under deadlines, and strong attention to detail
