Johnson and Johnson Medical Device Companies is recruiting for a R&D Statistician located in Seattle, WA or remotely within the United States!

J&J is hiring a R&D Statistician to work on measuring healthcare surgical outcome variability and the development and implementation of real-time monitoring focusing on surgeon and hospital clinical and economic improvement, learning curve, and outlier detection. Complex data sets include surgeon performance metrics extracted from operative video (e.g., operative time, task completion time, general performance metrics) along with hospital Electronic Health Records and big data Real-World Data (such as Medicare, private insurance claims, aggregate hospital billing data, and registry data) and ergonomic and clinical studies. Projects will include measuring surgeon improvement and healthcare improvement interventions including simulation, practice labs, and decision support solutions. In addition, they will evaluate the impact of the introduction of new technology such as decision support, medical devices, and new surgical approaches.
The candidate will be responsible for applying statistical learning methods in combination with machine learning techniques to facilitate collaboration with researchers, data scientists, software engineers, and other specialists focusing on measuring surgeon/hospital improvement.
Responsibilities:
- Use a combination statistical learning methods with machine learning techniques to build and implement a real-time measurement system for surgeon/hospital performance for both internal and external presentation
- Develop statistical models to predict clinical and economic outcomes, and performance improvement
- Develop sophisticated key performance indicators to measure improvement related to clinical outcomes
- Identify and connect new data sources to develop an improving learning measurement system
- Measure the effect of educational training, and other quality improvement healthcare solutions
- Implement internal quality control systems
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in statistics, applied math, operations research, or econometrics
- Minimum of 4+ years of proven experience doing statistical modeling, and delivering quality products
- Strong understanding of statistical inference foundations
- Good command of R
- Comfortable using SQL
- Familiarity using Gitlab, and R Markdown
- Good use of visualization tools for storytelling
- Master's degree in statistics, applied math, operations research, or econometrics
- Experience in healthcare industry
- Proficient in programming in R, and Python
- Experience using Bayesian inference on applications
