Job Summary:
NanoString is continuing to build out its successful future and we are looking for a highly motivated individual to perform analyses and organize data that will help to drive business growth. The Financial Analyst will report to the Director FP&A, and will have a key role in forecasting and budgeting revenue. This role also involves regular reporting of revenue and bookings through a combination of Business Intelligence software and Microsoft Excel. At a minimum, the new analyst will have a hand in analyzing revenue, bookings, cost of goods sold, and gross margin. The analyst will work with partners in Sales and Sales Ops, Marketing, Manufacturing, Shipping, and Accounting. Depending on the individual's efficiency and capacity, this role can also provide additional growth opportunities, including working on and leading cross-functional projects to provide new and impactful models and analysis. A successful candidate will be a self-starter who is comfortable with ambiguity. In a time of significant growth for NanoString, our team requires someone who can perform under pressure to solve ad-hoc problems with little guidance in short timeframes. This individual will be creative, collaborative, and dedicated to providing high quality results.

Responsibilities:
Utilize BI and Excel to produce highly visible revenue and bookings forecasts on a weekly basis. Become an expert in the details of the forecast to be able to answer questions on the fly in weekly meetings with senior management.

Translate documents into computational formulas or scripts and assist with maintaining process documents

Develop, automate, and produce quarterly reports that provide insights on revenue, bookings, COGS, gross margin, and key internal metrics. Interpret the reports to provide insights to senior management.

Facilitate the annual revenue and COGS budgeting process

Help with the implementation of new CRM and BI tools. Develop dashboards, automated reporting, and data exports that will serve the FP&A team and other functions in a wide variety of processes.

Work with Manufacturing, Accounting, Market, Sales, and other teams to improve quarter end forecasting data and processes.

Deliver quarter end analysis on a timely matter and keep automating reports to Power BI and data warehouse.

Take on ad-hoc analyses and quickly turn around accurate results.

Requirements:
Ability to work effectively with others in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

Five years of work experience as a Business Analyst, Financial Analyst, or Senior Accountant with Revenue emphasis

Strong understanding of Accounting, specifically in Revenue and COGS

Basic programming experience (e.g. VBA, Python, or similar)

Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (e.g. VBA, complex modeling, array formulas)

Experience building dashboards and reports in BI software (e.g. Tableau, PowerBI, or similar)

Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy

BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or equivalent field

Detail-oriented, with strong analytical and financial modeling skills

A service-focused, customer orientation toward colleagues throughout the company

Ability to work and contribute both independently and as part of cross-functional teams

Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively (written and verbal)

Ability to work effectively with others in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

Preferred Qualifications:
Public company experience

Experience with international, high growth, highly complex company

Revenue experience is a plus, either as an auditor, accountant, or analyst

SQL experience a plus
