Job description

The Company You'll Join

At Carta we create owners and make private markets liquid.

We live in a world where some people live on the equity stack and enjoy exponential wealth growth and preferential tax treatment; others live on the debt stack and may work their entire lives for a company and retire only with the cash they've managed to save from their paychecks. Our contribution to solving the wealth inequality problem is moving people from the debt stack (payroll) to the equity stack. By making it as easy to issue equity to employees as it is to put them on payroll, we can create more owners.

At Carta, we are helpful, transparent, fair, and kind. We are relentless executors, unconventional thinkers, and masters of our craft.

The Company You'll Join

At Carta we create owners and make private markets liquid.

The Team You'll Work With

We're looking for Senior Front End Engineers to join one of three teams; the Shareholder Experience team, our new Carta Tax Advisor team, and the Payments team.

Day-to-day you'll have opportunities to partner closely with other engineers, product managers, and business leaders. We believe in smaller teams to allow for greater focus and have an immense amount of ownership over the problems that we solve. We have a strong collaborative relationship between Product and Engineering. Being helpful is ingrained in our culture.

The Problems You'll Solve

You'll be joining one of three teams on Carta Platform, solving a variety of complex engineering challenges. From building products that help shareholders track and manage their assets, filing taxes and better educating employees on how to manage their wealth, to creating a cohesive and reliable payment experience for other business teams.

Some Of The Problems You Could Contribute To

  • Owning medium-to-large scale features to solve critical problems that employees (like you and me) at private companies face each day
  • Collaborating with a small backend team to build a user friendly tax filing and advisory product and help define front end standards across our tax product
  • Developing standardized components for payments that will be used across all Carta payment products and drive adoption for common usability across banks and banking infrastructure
The Impact You'll Have

Regardless of the team you join, as a Senior Front End Engineer your impact will be felt broadly across Carta. From building products that are used by 1M+ shareholders on Carta, to scaling a product responsible for moving billions of dollars through our platform. Our teams are small, oftentimes operating like a "startup within a startup".

About You

You're a strong communicator and love coordinating and contributing to cross team efforts to tackle crucial business problems that impact the whole organization. You are a generalist who is comfortable working with ambiguity.

We are looking for someone with 5+ years of Front End or Full Stack web development experience, with strong knowledge and experience in React.

The Interview Process

Our team believes that interviews are a two-way process and we strive to make them enjoyable without any "gotchas." The interview process starts with a call with a member of our warm, amazing recruiting team who will tell you more about the job and the company. Then, there's a technical screen where you'll be handed a technical exercise that is expected to be completed in a reasonable time, most candidates spend 2-4 hours on it. Finally, we will schedule you for another four to five meetings with other team members to discuss everything from coding and systems design to Carta's culture and cross-team collaboration as well as what you can expect, and what is expected from you.

We are an equal opportunity employer and are committed to providing a positive interview experience for every candidate. As a company, we value fairness, helpfulness, transparency, leadership and build our teams around these values.
