About the role

Studio Z, Zillow's internal creative agency, is in search of a brilliant Senior Motion Designer to support its growing production team. The Production Team includes producers, production management, film and photo editors who develop and implement the vision of creative concepts that ladder up to Zillow's overall marketing strategy. In this role, you are agile at brainstorming with a creative team, coming up with custom graphics that translate ideas across digital channels. This role requires the ability to manage deadlines, be organized, love details and to have a mad animation skills. You have top notch interpersonal and communication skills and are a self-starter, able to work both independently and within creative groups. The ideal candidate must have agency experience - working in a creative, iterative world, while easily partnering with others in a dynamic, fast-moving environment. You will report to the Lead Video Editor.

Some of what you will be doing:

  • Partner with Associate Creative Directors and Senior Designers to establish Studio Z's overall motion design vision, philosophy, and processes
  • Collaborate with ACD's, graphic designers, copywriters, and project managers on all motion projects
  • Lead production for all motion graphics projects, including asset preparation and animation - translating brand guidelines into consistent expressions of our visual identity systems
  • Concept and implement high-quality, insightful 2D and 3D short animations
  • Create high-fidelity, photorealistic renders of the product for digital and print placement
  • Oversee consistency and quality among the work produced by internal and external agency
  • Supervise the development of guidelines and playbooks to establish standards for Zillow animation
  • Collaborate with Creative Teams to ensure consistent brand visual identity across multiple customer touch points
  • Grow team knowledge of standard methodologies and trends in 3D renders and motion graphics design


This role has been categorized as a Hybrid position. "Hybrid" employees regularly work at an existing ZG corporate office for approximately 10 to 80 percent of their time each month, and the rest of the time they may work from a remote physical location of their choice within a reasonable commuting distance from the corporate office which must be identified to the Company in advance. The Recruiter and Hiring Manager will set expectations on the employee's preferred time in office. ZG has not defined a reasonable distance, and expects employees will use judgment in determining this for themselves and understand the implications re: time commitment and cost of daily commute.

Who you are
  • 8+ years working experience as a Motion Designer
  • You understand the principles of good design and are passionate about creating best-in-class animations
  • You are endlessly curious & constantly pursuing opportunities to better your skills
  • You are adept at managing multiple projects at once and prioritizing
  • You communicate effectively and proactively with team members
  • You have experience with workflows in a post-production environment and strong grasp of graphics workflows to and from AE & Premiere
  • You value feedback as a critical means for personal and professional growth
  • You thrive in a fast-paced agency setting and enjoy the challenge of expressing varied brand guidelines across a range of project types
  • You are a self-starter with high ambitions and higher standards. You take direction and run with it
  • You have an online portfolio that shows off a range of design styles, diversity of project types and your outstanding animation, storytelling, and design skills
  • You have mastered the Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, After Effects and Illustrator as well as robust knowledge of Figma
  • You have dabbled in CINEMA 4D, Maya 3D & VR/AR
  • You enjoy mentoring and teaching more junior designers (and editors) the tricks of the trade
  • You are comfortable with remote based design collaboration and adore Zoom
