The role
We are looking for a strong Senior Staff Software Engineer for our Engineering Productivity team who is passionate about delivering software that makes other software developers efficient and productive. This is a high impact role to define the basic tools and processes that support developer velocity at SoFi. You will be the technical lead for our Engineer Enablement team building tools and processes to enable our engineers to build better and faster features every day.
From a technical skill set perspective, you must have experience with excellent engineering platforms and how they operate. You must have a great sense for simple, scalable solutions that engineers will love. We are looking for your ability and vision to implement and support solutions for our developers that are highly available and scalable. You will work to better our ability to scale our engineering teams.
What You'll Do
- Lead the development of developer productivity tools and services
- Ensure that our codebase remains easy to change and is always shippable
- Shape the technical architecture of our systems
- Deliver highly available and scalable services in a production environment
- Generate ideas for new initiatives and technologies
- Mentor other engineers, support the technical culture, and help grow the team
- Communicate and collaborate with product and design
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field
- 9+ years years experience in a Software Engineer role or combination of education and experience
- Passion for cloud native technologies, deployment systems built around Kubernetes, CI/CD, and creating self-service platforms enabling engineers to build better and faster features every day.
- Experience working in a collaborative coding environment, refining designs together, working through code reviews and managing pull requests
- Willingness to roll up your sleeves, collaborate with others and get stuff done
- Strong sense of responsibility; driving a project from inception to completion
- Experience with Python, Java, Kotlin, Spring or similar
- Building and scaling microservices at scale
- Familiarity with managing and configuring monitoring tools, such as Prometheus, Grafana, DataDog and Elasticsearch/ELK
