Job description

The Test Fixture Mechanical Engineer applies the highest level of skill and knowledge of Mechanical Engineering & Mechatronics domains in designing test fixture tools. You will work with both internal and external partners to drive conceptual fixture tool design in the early product exploration stage and validate fixture first article design for testability. You will lead the end-to-end deployment to qualification in a high-volume production operation.The ideal candidate must be responsive, flexible and able to succeed within an open collaborative peer environment. You will enforce manufacturability, testability and ensure cost-effective designs are implemented for testing and automation systems. We are looking for someone with a productive mindset who can apply their expertise to solve problems in creative, insightful ways.

  • Design fixtures and tools for manufacturing test and precision calibration.
  • Drive and manage both internal development partners and external manufacturing partners for design review/DFM/DFT/datum establishment.
  • Oversee end-to-end test fixture mechanical qualification process from development/prototyping to deployment/production.
  • Integrate test tools/fixtures/carrier to overall manufacturing/assembly flow for design for manufacturing, cost and testability.
  • Troubleshooting and debugging test fixture systems and drive to closure.
  • Drive design and execute development projects with a design of experiment approach (DOE) to service, troubleshoot, and solve engineering & production problems.
  • Design and prototype devices for test fixture validation.
  • Travel 20%, includes domestic and international travels.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics.
  • 3+ years experience in fixture and mechanical system design experience in volume production.
  • Knowledge in electrical mechanical sensor/actuator, flex circuits, pogo pin, printed circuit boards.
  • Knowledge of GD&T (Geometry, Dimensioning and Tolerancing) practices, tolerance stack-up, and fixture alignment datum establishment.
  • Knowledge in mechanical/optical measurement systems (OMM, CMM, laser, CCD, etc.).
  • Knowledge in statistical methods (6s, Cpk, GRR) for data analytics and quality control.
  • Experience with SPC tools (Minitab, jmp, etc.).
  • Experience working with external vendors.


  • Experience in CNC, sheet metal and rapid prototyping fabrication and material selection.
  • Experience with calibration test fixture and automation system mechanical design.
  • Knowledge and experience implementing factory and site acceptance testing.
  • Python programming skills.
  • Experience developing entire test station.
  • Mandarin Chinese fluency.
  • Experience using CAD.
