Responsibilities:
Job Summary:
Provides spiritual care to patients, families, and staff within assigned settings, in conjunction with CPE students and pastoral care volunteers. Incumbents are typically assigned to specific service lines or functions, but may be temporarily assigned or reassigned at management's discretion.
Essential Duties Include:
Delivers direct spiritual care appropriate to recipient's spirituality, culture, religious preference and health status.
Works closely and effectively with care managers, interdisciplinary care teams, social workers, nursing and medical staff to provide spiritual care insights.
Prepares timely, accurate, and thorough documentation in accordance with CHI Franciscan Health (CHI-FH) standards and procedures.
Provides direct spiritual consultation and spiritual and emotional support for staff experiencing work-related or personal stress, including being available for private conversations while respecting work schedules and locating private space for counseling.
Collaborates with CPE students, volunteers, and local clergy to extend spiritual care services.
Provides education and ethical consultation for patients, family, staff and volunteers.
As a Chaplain, you will most likely be assigned to service with specific service lines, however, may be temporarily assigned or reassigned at management's discretion.
Qualifications:
Education/Work Experience:
Bachelor's degree in a related discipline and successful completion of four units of Clinical Pastor education.
An incumbent must apply for board certification during the 90-day introductory period, and must have an active plan on record to meet the educational requirement for board certification.
Required Master's degree education must be completed within five years of date of hire.
Licensure/Certification:
1. Employees must begin the certification process within one year of date of hire.
2. Within five years of date of hire, an incumbent must meet the educational requirements of one of the following, and become certified.
a. National Accreditation of Catholic Chaplains (NACC),
b. Association of Professional Chaplains (APC),
c. Association of Clinical Pastoral Education (ACPE), OR
d National Association of Jewish Chaplains (NAJC)
