A global food manufacturer is now actively looking for a new member of their Laboratory Technician / Quality Assurance team near Tacoma, Washington. The company has been serving their high quality food products (non GMO and gluten free) to all over the world in decades.

The ideal candidate will be forward-thinking and create new methods or improve their quality testing. This candidate also has passion to make impact for people's food culture and enjoys analysis. The position will be "temp to hired" for the first 3 - 6 months. Responsibilities for Entry Level Laboratory Technician / Quality Assurance:

• Make sure that all practices are conducted in a food safe manner and any food safety issues
• Monitor raw materials, quality of finished product, and verification of packaging
• Accurately and efficiently prepare and register samples for analytical or microbiological testing and record results for analysis
• Review production records daily to ensure completeness and compliance
• Participate in internal and external quality audits and operational reviews. Conduct quality audits
• Conduct tests and report result of raw materials and finished products
• Perform routine lab and department maintenance to keep area clean and orderly
• Complete assignments in a timely, diligent, and safe manner
• Train plant personnel on all quality requirements and procedures
• Assist Quality Assurance checks for GMP and Sanitation Compliance

Qualifications for Entry Level Laboratory Technician / Quality Assurance:

• Associate's Degree or higher in Microbiology, Biology, Food Science is preferred
• Knowledge of methods and procedures for food manufacturing is huge plus
• Must be able to work flexible hours/ shifts
• Must be able to read and understand weights and measures to ensure accurate lab tests
• Ability to understand production, quality and safety reports
• Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management and production staff
• Read and follow instructions accurately to ensure efficiency and quality of finished product
• Knowledge of methods and procedures for food manufacturing is huge plus detailed, technical writing, proofreading, and procedure auditing, extensive record-keeping
• Strong work ethic and positive team attitude
• Good time management, accurate, detail oriented, and responsible
• While performing the duties of this job you may be required to intermittently sit, stand, walk, lift up to 25 pounds, lift in excess of 25 pounds with a lift assist, climb stairs, use hands to handle or feel parts/equipment, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend at the waist, talk and hear. You may also be required to use close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and peripheral vision.
