Summary
This position will be responsible for ordering and supplying the organization with materials, supplies, equipment, and services to support manufacturing and nonmanufacturing processes. This is an exempt, full-time position that reports to the Supply Chain Manager.
Responsibilities
- Procurement of goods, materials, and services
- Active communication and resolution of shortages and expirations
- Management of all outside service (contract service) work
- Vendor compliance with all certification and regulatory requirements
- Promotion and fostering of vendor relationships
- Negotiation of long-term agreements (LTAs) and competitive pricing
- Monitoring of industry risks and trends
- Coordination of sourcing logistics
- Support of new products and projects
- Completion of goals and projects as assigned
- Obtains and analyzes requests for quote and negotiates pricing in accordance with established policies and procedures
- Reviews acknowledgements for agreement with purchase orders and resolves any discrepancies with the supplier to the best possible advantage for this organization
- Reviews material exception reports and MRP for future shortages and plans ordering strategies to prevent shortages
- Monitors vendor performance, analyzes trends, and manages relationships with vendors to improve their performance.
- Analyzes forecast and usage trend information and prepares forecasts for vendors.
- Interfaces with all departments and resolves issues
- Keeps the Supply Chain Manager informed of all activities or problems and submits reports as requested by management
Education, Skills and Certifications
- High school diploma or equivalent. 4-year degree preferred
- 5+ years purchasing related experience, preferably in a manufacturing and/or aerospace environment
- Ability met deadlines, set priorities, and multitask
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail
- Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
- Good working knowledge of MRP/ERP systems
- Excellent communication and negotiating skills
