Position: Clark County Community Outreach and Volunteer Engagement Specialist
Responsible to: Director of Volunteer Development
Status: Part-time, 30 hours per week with potential to move to full time
Job Description:
This position will be responsible for recruiting, training, and retaining new Volunteer Guardian ad Litem whom will serve children subject to Title 13 dependency in Clark County, Washington.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO, THE FOLLOWING:
- Work with the Director of Volunteer Development to create and implement a strategic recruitment plan that focuses on seeking diverse and passionate community members to complete quarterly pre and in-service Title 13 Guardian ad Litem trainings.
- Seek opportunities to recruit community members as Volunteer Guardian ad Litem through community outreach efforts as well as coordinating tabling and speaking opportunities.
- Assist in offering quarterly trainings for Volunteer Guardian ad Litem and Staff
- Assist in creation and maintenance of volunteer electronic and physical files to include but not limited to, application, interviews, background checks, and trainings.
- Engage in Volunteer Retention and Appreciation practices
- Increase general awareness of the Clark County Guardian ad Litem program through community outreach efforts and community partner relationships.
- Other expanded duties possible dependent on program needs and successful applicant experience.
Qualifications and Requirements
- 21 years of age
- Experience in the field of child welfare, child development, juvenile justice or social services, direct experience with CASA/GAL work is desirable
- Experience working with volunteers specifically recruitment, is preferred
- Experience working with database Casa Manager is desirable
- Ability to prioritize and effectively manage multiple tasks and projects in order to meet mandated deadlines
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
- Ability to offer and receive critical analysis and constructive feedback
- Capable of establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with staff, volunteers, and community partners
- Knowledge and application of self-care and stress management practices
- Strong computer skills, proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and ability and willingness to learn new software and applications
- Ability to work from home, in the community, and attend virtual or in person meetings and court hearings
- Ability to work independently and part of a multidisciplinary team
- Ability to work some evenings and weekends, as needed to meet case responsibilities, support volunteers, or to attend a special events
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Must be respectful of all people regardless of race, ethnicity, culture, socioeconomic background, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation or disability
- Criminal background clearance; Federal finger print, State criminal check, Child Protective Services history check, Sex Offender registry check in accordance with R.C.W. 13.34.100
- A GAL is required to maintain independence, objectivity, and the appearance of fairness in dealings with parties and professionals, both in and outside of the courtroom. A GAL shall maintain the ethical principles of the rules of conduct, and avoid any actual or apparent conflict of interest, treat parties with respect, become informed about the facts, contact all parties, and examine all material information and take into account the positions of all the parties
