Assistant Scientist

Overview:

The Cell Line Development team is responsible for using the patented GPEx® technology to create high performance stable cell lines using a non-replicative retrovector system. This system can be used with any mammalian cell line and many eukaryotic cell lines. This position will perform a variety of laboratory procedures to support Cell Line Development. These procedures include creation of stable continuous cell lines, routine maintenance of cell lines, accurate documentation, participation in experiments, following client timelines.

Our new, state of the art Madison, WI facility, with expanded mammalian cell line engineering and biomanufacturing capabilities utilizing single-use systems, offers increased flexibility and manufacturing scale to support our customers' growth. We offer a broad range of integrated formulation and analytical services to solve your most difficult development challenges in Biologics.

II. Specific Duties, Activities, and Responsibilities:

The position will perform daily work assignments accurately and in a timely and safe manner. This position will independently evaluate, select and apply standardized scientific techniques; assignments have clear and specified objectives, and require the investigation of a limited number of variables. This position relies on limited experience and exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices in making minor adaptations and modifications.

?Accurately reviews batch records and other data, ensuring consistency

?Accurately ships cell lines to clients and fills out appropriate paperwork

?Maintains parental cell lines

?Maintains the production calendar

?Performs general lab housekeeping, including cleaning/sterilizing of lab and lab materials, disposal of trash and recyclables, autoclaving, ordering and stocking supplies, etc.

?Accurately completes routine and preventative maintenance on laboratory equipment

Requirements:

Education:

MS in Biotechnology, or related field with no previous industry laboratory experience

?Bachelors or Associates Degree in Biotechnology, or related field, with at least 1 to 3 years' experience in a laboratory environment.

Experience: ?Experience operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting mammalian cell culture techniques

?Aseptic technique experience

?Good documentation practices (GDP)

?Experience writing standard operating procedures

?General laboratory equipment experience
