Job description

Junior Supplier Quality Engineer required for my Gloucestershire based client, a global leader in the design and manufacture of electro-mechanical products for a range of industries.

We are looking for a committed and able person who has successfully completed their education in an engineering or related discipline with the potential to progress to a role of Supplier Development Engineer (SDE). For the right person we are offering on-the-job development and support toward the adoption of the full responsibilities of an SDE. This is an excellent and exclusive opportunity to grow your experience, skills and competency in this key quality and supply chain management role.

Your previous experience is likely to include…

An apprenticeship or graduate programme in an engineering, supply chain discipline. Practical experience in a manufacturing and engineering environment and an understanding of basic manufacturing processes such as machining, fabrication etc. This will be supported by an appreciation of process control and quality management. You will be able to demonstrate your previous on-the-job experience with examples of projects and assignments completed.

To be successful in this role…

You will be committed to developing toward the full responsibilities of an SDE and will show initiative and resourcefulness within the support given as part of the on-the-job training process. You will progress toward independent working as you develop the competencies of an SDE. You will have good written, verbal and interpersonal skills. You will be expected to undertake quality management training with the Chartered Quality Institute (CQI) or similar organisation.

Your objectives and responsibilities will focus on…

Engaging in the UK supplier selection processes to ensure suitable and qualified suppliers
Conducting supplier audits in accordance with global standards
Engaging with suppliers to promote the Implementation of suitable quality planning and control activities within the supplier site and promote best practice.
Analysing supplier performance data to determine opportunities for improvement and related reduction of supplier non conformity.
Utilising problem solving techniques to identify the causes of non-conformity and implement countermeasures e.g. 8D
Reviewing 'Lesson Learnt' and promote & implement the outcomes with suppliers
Training suppliers in the requirements as necessary.
Providing technical advice to buyers in support of non-conforming product & disputes.
Active and consistent promotion of the company EHS policy across the team and department.
