Job description

Job Title: Communication, Education & Outreach Officer

Working Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday
Salary: Competitive
Serco's Environmental Services provide a complete waste and recycling service on behalf of the residents and community in Lambeth. With a professional, dedicated and friendly team of Refuse, Recycling and Street Cleansing staff, we ensure that streets, homes and businesses are kept clean, safe and tidy, whilst providing the very best levels of customer service to all members of the community that we serve.
As a Communication, Education & Outreach Officer you'll be a key point of contact for the Lambeth contract, and Local Authority partners, in providing communications and campaigns support. Day to day, you'll be responsible for the execution of the annual communications plan, the management of Voluntary and Community Sector partner organizations and any resident correspondence or outreach. You'll bring to life communication plans by designing, coordinating and delivering content via various mediums; you'll also source and promote positive PR opportunities and support press and media enquiries.
This role is a unique opportunity to be a front-line educator to Lambeth residents, by supporting behavioural change campaigns that seek to encourage recycling and decrease recycling contamination within the community. You'll be instrumental in making a tangible difference to the lives of residents in one of the most high-profile boroughs in the country.
You'll gain invaluable experience in the Environmental sector whilst establishing yourself as a credible and integral member of the contract team - in doing so you'll be exposed to some of the key challenges and complexities of Environmental services.
What you'll need to do the role:

Ideally you will have previous experience in a Communications role where you have worked across multiple platforms and channels. You will be a creative individual who works well as part of a team and can bring your sense of fun & innovation to the role. Gifted with excellent writing and public speaking skills you'll have the ability to develop creative copy for marketing collateral and communicate convincingly at in-person events.
Previous experience working within Environmental Services would be beneficial but is not essential, however you ideally will have experience in communications or marketing. If you have worked with Local Authorities in any capacity, this would be a distinct advantage.
