Head of Document Automation

A global law firm has a requirement for a Head of Document Automation to be based out of their London office. The role will assume responsibility for technical and strategic leadership of this function. This is a role that would be extremely well suited to someone with deep expertise in document automation (primarily with Contract Express), strong leadership and engagement skills, and the experience to drive this function and projects forward in a large multinational law firm.

In this Head of Document Automation role, the successful candidate will have the following objectives and responsibilities:

Define and deliver the internal document automation strategy for the firm
Engage with stakeholders across the firm to drive the adoption and communication strategy for document automation
Managing the document automation team including the management of processes for the development, support and delivery of document automation services
Identifying opportunities, analysing competitor strategies and horizon scanning
Operating as a Programme Manager and driving multiple projects and workstreams
Operating in the capacity of a product manager and owning the relationships with vendors and other 3rd party suppliers
Driving a culture of continuous improvement throughout the document automation function
Acting as an expert in other automation and related legal and innovation technology

Suitable candidates will need the following skills and experience to be suitable for this role:

An expert in document automation and in the deployment, development and support of Contract Express
Strong academics. Ideally a degree in Law, but candidates with degrees in other disciplines and qualified by experience will be equally considered
Experience gained in a similar role, preferably in a legal or professional services setting
A successful track history of managing projects, leading teams and executing on departmental strategy
Highly developed interpersonal, communication and stakeholder management skills
Some exposure to related automation, innovation and legal technologies such as HighQ, Neota or Bryter
The ability to manage resources, teams and stakeholders across multiple geographic regions
