Job description

Calling all Australian PR Expats (or anyone with work rights here)

The borders are opening, flights are resuming and after two awfully long years, returning to Australia is a looming possibility. And after all that waiting and uncertainty, wouldn't it be nice to have some certainty, say, a job for when you get here?

SBM is a respected, experienced agency delivering outstanding PR, creative, social and content for our clients who range from global brands to smaller start-ups and we're looking for a PR Account Manager and Senior Account Manager to join our team.

While we specialise in tech, we are skilled in running consumer, government, and advocacy campaigns too. Basically, we function anywhere that we can use brand journalism, social and digital campaigns, content and PR to tell stories that don't tell themselves!

We're looking for Australian expats or those with working rights planning to return home shortly who either want the assurance that there's a job waiting for them when their feet hit the tarmac or would like to spend a few months working remotely before getting on a plane.

The Opportunity

As our PR AM or SAM, you know that you are the heart of the account, pumping blood throughout the body of the team. And we're going to stop torturing that analogy. Let's talk about you, instead.

In the role, you will be able to:

  • Develop, execute and maintain media, communications, social media and lead-nurture strategies
  • Act as the day-to-day contact for clients
  • Help develop and execute on strategy that gives clients the best bang for their buck
  • Wow the client and balance the budget, thus spreading perfect harmony throughout the universe
  • Be our client's advocate, willing to interrogate ideas for the best outcome
  • Manage account team activity, providing guidance for the junior team to grow them into superstars like you
  • Generate ideas for clients and our business
  • Manage multiple projects to deliver results on or before the deadline

About You

  • You most definitely have a courageous and curious attitude, and you will want to make your mark at a small agency that punches above its weight. It is also important that you possess:
  • A minimum of 4 years' experience in marketing/public relations, preferably in the IT industry; PC gaming knowledge will also be viewed favourably
  • Experience managing large corporate accounts
  • Excellent media contacts (or at least the ability to build your contacts quickly - we realise you've been globe-trotting)
  • Passion for the industry and current affairs
  • Applied thinking (because there isn't always a rule book)
  • Mad attention-to-detail
  • An ability to craft client messaging that cuts through the jargon to tell a great story
  • A degree, or relevant industry experience

What's in it for you?

  • Unrivalled career and personal development;
  • An enviable location, close to transport, surrounded by great food, good coffee, shops, and pubs;
  • A flexible, warm and relaxed team environment offering all the support you need to grow;
  • A lively and creative culture
  • That pesky work-life balance thing
  • Some support with your return to Australia
  • This is your chance to join our friendly team and share our supportive company culture.
  • We are based centrally, however we also know you can work from anywhere so remote and hybrid options are available.

In every part of our organisation, our people are our greatest asset. We celebrate diversity, encourage curiosity, and inspire creativity to help all our employees drive success in our business. If you're interested in joining our team, don't dilly-dally and get applyin' - tell us why you think you would succeed with SBM.
