Position Description:
We are looking to hire an energetic, ambitious and inquisitive senior associate for our London-based Regulatory Operations team that oversees PIMCO's MiFID II trade and transaction reporting obligations for our London and Munich offices. The team's core objectives are centered around best-in-industry regulatory reporting excellence, accuracy, and efficiency, and this role will be a key contributor to the team's continued success. We take a data-centric approach to solving complex regulatory challenges, utilizing vended and internally built controls that utilize technology to the fullest, to drive continuous improvement and stay at the forefront of the industry on regulatory reporting best practice.
On a daily basis the associate will utilize their judgement, decision-making skills and experience to manage the regulatory reporting trade flow, reporting locally to a Vice President in Operations. The role brings opportunities to gain a deep understanding into the business processes of PIMCO across a diverse set of financial products and trading scenarios, while also taking a hands-on analysis approach using data science techniques and tools.
Responsibilities include:
- Daily validation of high volume and broad product range of transactional data to European regulators (FCA and BaFin) as required by MiFID II
- Troubleshoot and resolve daily reporting exceptions to meet tight regulatory deadlines
- Oversee daily reconciliation tools and processes built for ensuring completeness, accuracy, and timeliness of reported data
- Maintain and update key static reference data including client, counterparty, venue, and internal decision maker identifiers
- Coordination with Middle Office, Trade Floor, Legal and Compliance, Technology, key external vendor systems, and other teams as necessary
- Prepare internal metrics and summaries to senior stakeholders on reporting efficiency
- Conduct ad hoc analysis to research and identify anomalies and patterns within our reporting data
- Contribute to the creation of new requirements within the global regulatory change book-of-work
Position Requirements:
- 3+ years equivalent work experience with a leading investment manager or sell-side firm working in a regulatory reporting or middle office role
- Familiarity of financial industry regulatory regimes (preferably MIFID II, or G20 EMIR / SFTR)
- Strong understanding of trade operations, buy-side front-to-back trade lifecycle across a diverse set of financial products
- Strong data analysis tools in Excel, and preferably exposure to Python, SQL, and/or business intelligence reporting tools
- Experience using Bloomberg, especially Bloomberg's Regulatory Reporting solution (RHUB)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Able to work independently and as part of a global team
- Intuitive and analytical thinker with excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels
