Job description
Application Support Engineer - London with flexible hybrid working. Up to £40k base with excellent benefits.
We are delighted to bring to market a really interesting role for one of our favourite clients in central London. They are looking for a talented Application Support specialist to join a lovely team providing predominantly application support with some development functions across a broad IT estate.
The client has recently launched an exciting new IT strategy and as such are looking to update and upgrade a number of Legacy applications. This role will have responsibility for providing high level support across a range of new technologies and assisting in some of the development process.
Key Responsibilities- Providing support for our Azure-hosted .NET applications and React web applications, by:
- Analysing live issues
- Recommending appropriate solutions
- Working closely with the development teams to implement fixes
- Working closely with the Applications Support Manager to continuously improve our support, development and deployment processes to:
- Reduce manual intervention
- Ensure that all changes are fully tested
- Minimise disruption to operations
- Working with the development teams to ensure that all deployed systems have adequate monitoring and alerting.
- Effectively communicate with customers to provide information and manage expectations.
- Identify and manage the timely escalation of tickets that have been allocated to you, liaising with others in the wider business as appropriate.
- Handle difficult situations and use your adaptability, resilience and resourcefulness to find solutions.
- Applying knowledge of industry standards, trends and developments to improve our digital offering.
- Undertaking any reasonable task requested by the jobholder's line manager.
Key Skills required
- Experience of supporting and maintaining applications across multiple devices and platforms
- Proficiency in C# .NET development
- Proficiency in Azure or other cloud development environments
- Experience of working on concurrent issues with very tight deadlines
- Adept at logically analysing situations and problems to arrive at sound issue resolution, with supporting evidence and rationale
- Good written and verbal communication skills to communicate effectively to both technical and non-technical personnel.
- Ability to listen, learn and improve within the role, demonstrate commitment to quality.
- Can work on your own initiative as well as part of a team. Be organised, analytical, make sound decisions and seek resolutions.
- An ability to assimilate information quickly and use it to resolve issues on a timely basis
- Strong collaborative skills
- Strong interpersonal skills, capable of building and developing relationships at all levels
It would be great if you had experience in the following areas, but full training can be provided.
- Experience of working with SQL databases
- Experience of working with React applications
- Experience of using Agile methodologies
- Experience of using JIRA or similar Agile tools
- Knowledge of Git version control
