Job description

Role Purpose

This role, as part of the Creative Studio, is focused on supporting the Hays UK&I Marketing team in creating high-quality branded digital marketing assets to help promote Hays' services and reputation as the world's leading specialist recruiter. Reporting into the Design Manager, the role actively contributes to the Creative Studio team environment, working to tight deadlines, driving to improve the quality of design work and productivity.

Key Result Areas

Design and creative

* Create digital designs based on both Hays' and\/or clients' brand guidelines and templates for a variety of project types, including:

* Recruitment & brand advertising
* Digital brochures and reports
* Video
* Social media
* Web
* Email
* Paid digital media assets, including animated and static digital HTML5 banners
* Infographics
* UX\/UI

* Produce work that is on-brief, on-spec and on-time, liaising with the Design Manager, Marketing, internal business stakeholders and\/or clients to take briefs, discuss requirements and help to resolve any issues related to work
* Ensure all artwork produced meets the high standards, requirements and brand values expected by Hays and\/or its clients
* Responsibility for checking own work prior to sending on
* Search for and\/or acquire on-brand images to be used in a variety of creative projects
* Contribute to 'studio housekeeping', e.g. managing Hays and client files and assets, file naming, archiving and general day-to-day upkeep of studio facilities and environment
* Full understanding of all aspects of the Hays brand to ensure correct and consistent execution of all work.

Projects and Brand\/Process Development

* Ensure all work is produced in-line with the agreed creative process & timelines, checked, approved and delivered
* Assist the Design Manager and other members of the Creative Studio team, to help deliver larger creative campaigns\/projects
* Ensure correct and appropriate execution of clients' brand where appropriate
* Manage own projects\/workload and work closely with stakeholders within the department and around the business
* Willingness to improve the quality of design and be an active member of the creative process
* Work effectively with the different systems employed by Hays, including the Clarizen (marketing project management system), the Hays Brand Portal, Hays intranet and Peoplesoft (HR system).

Personal responsibility, development and training

* Responsibility to work with Design Manager to understand and work towards the completion of objectives and KPIs, including proposing ideas for self-development
* Responsibility to develop an understanding of Hays' business in order to deliver fit-for-purpose marketing and internal communication materials
* Excellent attention to detail as well as good organisational and communication skills
* Ability to work individually and as part of a team, to contribute to and support the wider Marketing department
* Responsibility to manage the handover of work when holiday is planned; this includes (but not limited to) providing full written notes on the status of ALL in-progress projects assigned to you
* Willingness to participate in both internal and external training to develop both personal soft and technical skills
* Willingness to explore and develop new skills
* Willingness and ability to undertake self-training as and when the opportunity arises, in-line with development plan and without prompting from Design Manager
* Willingness and ability to work outside immediate role remit to help other departments as and when necessary or delegated to do so
* Willingness to work outside the contractual hours of the junior designer role as needs arise and deadlines require.

Essential Knowledge and experience

* Degree or similar qualification in Graphic Design, or equivalent, preferable
* Demonstrable passion for the creative industry
* Experience in digital design

* Strong portfolio demonstrating creative flair, innovation, originality and experience of working on a range of different types of projects
* Digital design skills, including HTML5 banner design and build
* UX\/UI experience
* Strong computer skills and good working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud, incl. InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop & Acrobat (QuarkXpress not required)
* Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
* Experience working in motion graphics an advantage
* Experience working with a project management system preferable but not essential
* Good team worker who contributes and supports the wider team\/department
* Commercially aware with good understanding of business needs
* Experience of working within a corporate in-house environment an advantage
