JOB DESCRIPTION
POST TITLE:
Art and Whole School Display Technician
PURPOSE:
To provide efficient technical support to the Art department as well as creating creative whole school displays. In particular to prepare, store, maintain, order materials and equipment in art whilst also assisting with lessons.
REPORTING TO:
Head of Technology and Art, Senior Leadership Team
SALARY/GRADE:
Scale 5, point 12- 15 - Term time only

MAIN DUTIES:
- To ensure the efficient preparation and organisation of equipment for lessons required.
- To ensure safe storage and use of art equipment.
- To assist in preparing lesson materials in all areas of art up to and including GCSE level.
- To liaise with the Head of Technology & Art regarding the needs and running of the curriculum area.
- To undertake routine photocopying of worksheets when required.
- To assist cover teachers with the setting up of art equipment
- To assist in ensuring the safe conduct of students in the curriculum.
- To stock check materials, equipment and re-order where necessary.
- To carry out basic safety checks.
- To repair, maintain and if required construct or arrange the construction of equipment as required.
- To check equipment before and after lessons.
- To advise teachers about problems with equipment.
- To go on appropriate courses as required.
- To raise awareness of Health and Safety specifically in relation to teaching classes.
- To carry out monthly stock-take on equipment and materials in department and re-order if necessary.
- To undertake appropriate technician duties related to art as may reasonably be required by the Head of Technology and Art.
- To support teachers and students during lessons.
- To work alongside artists in residence
- To maintain a visually exciting department with ever changing displays
- To prepare work for moderation
- To attend meetings as required.
- To liaise with site staff regarding any disposal of work
- To regularly update corridor displays making adjustments and repairs to displays
- To liaise with teachers, HOY and SLT to assist in supplying materials for class displays and creating creative corridor displays
- To manage time in preparation for Open Evenings, Parents Evenings, Progress days and visitors.
- To take photographs when requested.
- To design posters etc. when requested.
