Job description

As a Manufacturing Solutions Architect within Capgemini Engineering, you will be fundamental to our ability to deliver engineering solutions to our Tier 1 customers and clients. The position reports into the Intelligent Industry Lead Architect.

You will possess creative problem-solving skills whilst operating in a team environment and be comfortable communicating and presenting efficiently and clearly at varying levels of both the customer and the Capgemini Engineering business. Due to the nature of the assignments you will be able to work autonomously, using your initiative which will require a flexible attitude. Above all, you will have a desire to understand the client's needs, their pressure points and to be able to produce innovate technical solutions which exists within the business and the wider technological world.

Purpose of role:

The work is to both identify and create solutions within the Intelligent Industry (Industry 4.0) banner which is a collection of multiple technologies tailored to deliver improvements in productivity, lead-time, information, IoT technologies, asset management etc. often within several parallel projects and industries. The primary task is to undertake the development and maintenance of professional solution requirement specifications and to gain acceptance of these from internal and external stakeholders within quality controls and timeframes specified under related service levels.

Responsibilities:

* Support the technical and sales team from across the life cycle to understand a client's overall technology direction and then apply your expertise to develop the most optimal solution for the client's organisation

* Responsible for conducting research on existing systems and devising solutions that work within those systems. You will also meet directly with clients to demonstrate solutions, answer questions regarding capabilities and requirements and work to resolve issues that arise during the development or product life cycle

* This role requires excellent attention to detail, as the solution architect you will frequently need to examine functional specifications and translate them into system guidelines that shape project development as well as find ways to align projects with enterprise-level systems

* Provide customer feedback in a timely manner to ensure future product development is aligned with clients' needs.

* Manage projects, acting as technical advisor to clients.

* Provide thought leadership in emerging technologies to the Solutions Architecture team

* Support cloud and managed service provider partners in creating a cohesive solution across multiple organizations

Skills and Requirements:

* Strong experience of performing a solution architecture role within an engineering, IT, manufacturing or telecommunications environment

* Strong knowledge and application of Industry 4.0 technologies such as IoT, analytics, AR/VR, asset tracking solutions, cyber security, digital twins, digital control towers etc.

* Technically leading complex projects throughout their complete lifecycle from requirements capture to handover and knowledge transfer

* Experience in using multiple tools within an enterprise environment

* Excellent at troubleshooting

* Awareness of project management methodology such as PMP/Prince 2

* Knowledge and experience of developing a Service Orientated Architecture

* Producing architecture utilising COTS products to fit within industry frameworks would be nice to have

* Experience of working within a large-scale organisation, able to work as part of a team, excellent organisations and time keeping skills, strong written and verbal skills

* Working with network management solutions and understanding of future mobile networks such as 5G

* Experience in business transformation projects

* Understanding how technology can be used to solve a given business problem

* Excelling Client facing Skills

Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent education or work experience

* Expertise with personal computers in a secure network environment and Microsoft applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and SharePoint) or similar software
