Job description

*The nursery operates as a not-for-profit organisation, managed by a voluntary committee of parents of children attending the nursery. Run by parents for parents, since we are not aiming to make a profit, we are able to plough any surplus income back into the nursery. Our aim is to offer a stimulating and caring environment where individuals can learn through play and experiences in an atmosphere where respect for oneself, each other and the surroundings is nurtured.*

*Role: Nursery Manager *

*Location: TW2 *

*Salary: £33,000-£35,000 *

*Hours: 38.5 per week *

*Essential Requirements: *

* Minimum Level 3 Early Years Childcare/Education qualification.
* Minimum 3 years' experience working with children under 5.
* Paediatric First Aid, Safeguarding and Food Hygiene Training.
* Management/Business experience in Early Years setting.
* DBS check and Registration with DBS Update Service.
* Eligible to live and work in UK (Immigration and Employment Law).
* Highly effective application of EYFS/Ofsted regulatory requirements.
* Lead and motivate a team to achieve high quality outcomes.
* Exemplary verbal and written communication.
* Understand Equal Opportunities, Child Protection & GDPR legislation.
* Excellent planning, time management and organisation skills.
* Proficient in the use of Excel and Word.
* Implement marketing strategies to maintain high occupancy levels.

*Key Responsibilities: *

* Lead and manage a team in a professional manner, delivering high quality education and care for our children and families.
* Successfully manage and maintain the nursery, in accordance with our policies, relevant legislation, local authority guidance and OFSTED regulatory requirements.
* Ensure the provision of the highest quality, safe and stimulating child-centred environment, catering for the educational, physical, developmental and emotional needs of the children.
* Promote equality, inclusion, anti-discriminatory practice and maintain confidentiality at all times.
* Undertake role of SENDCo to ensure keyworkers meet the needs of all children with SEND through individual targeted plans and co-ordinate with other agencies.
* Deal effectively with recruitment, liaison, administration, HR and accounting matters, seeking guidance as required.

*Duties: *

* Be responsible for the success of the nursery by achieving and maintaining target occupancy levels.
* Manage day to day operational and organisational aspects of the nursery, in line with policies and procedures, legislation, Ofsted and Local Authority requirements, correctly implementing safeguarding, health and safety, data protection and equality law as applicable.
* Accurately manage the nursery budget and monitor parent accounts to ensure timely collection of nursery fees.
* Be responsible for stock and equipment control, maintenance and procurement.
* Collate data and statistical information to compile reports and analyse progress.
* Be responsible for day-to-day management of staff, arrange regular meetings, encourage dialogue and implement systems to facilitate training and information sharing, including evening monthly staff meetings and termly inset days.
* Be actively involved and promote the nursery and best practice within the local community and professional forums.
* Develop excellent relationships with parents/carers of children, school staff, professionals and the wider community.
* Take lead responsibility for safeguarding and SENDCo, updating policy to ensure compliance with legislative changes.
* Ensure the Early Years Foundations Phase requirements are being implemented fully at all times.
* Complete and deliver annual performance and developmental reviews in a timely manner.
* Effectively manage absence, discipline, grievance and team welfare in compliance with the nursery's policies, procedures and all aspects of employment law.
* Maintain accurate records and communicate effectively with parents, staff, children, professionals and management team.
* Be actively involved in the recruitment, selection, motivation, support, retention and development of a highly qualified and experienced team.
* Ensure premises and employees adhere to health and safety regulations.
* Maintain up to date attendance register for all children and correctly complete incident, accident and risk assessment records in a timely manner.
* Effectively monitor, review and manage the nursery's finances, reporting any concerns to management without delay.
* Be courteous and professional at all times and dress appropriately, leading by example.
* Be flexible in attendance pattern to cover other staff, complete time critical work or deal with unexpected incidents.
* Demonstrate excellent time-keeping, arriving promptly for work and completing tasks without delay.
* Work in partnership with families to nurture children to help them develop and to improve outcomes for them.
* Provide feedback to parents/carers on a regular basis through parent consultations and discussions.
* Undertake care of sick children, administer first aid/medication and notify parents, in line with nursery policies.
* Take responsibility for own training and development to ensure continued professional development.
* Undertake any other reasonable duties as directed by the Business Development Manager or Management Team.
