Housing Support Worker - Blackburn - Temporary

Your new company
Hays are currently partnering with one of the North Wests largest housing associations to recruit a housing support worker on an on-going contract.

Your new role
You will provide support to service users at a project. You will need to be able to work sympathetically with service users who have been homeless and may have complex needs. You will work to empower service users, actively engaging them with the community and helping them to support each other, to develop resilience, to live independently and to be an asset to the community.

Duties will include:

- Being involved in the admission and selection of service users
- Identifying and assessing individuals' support needs, writing support plans and completing risk assessments
- To encourage and assist service users, via support plans, to develop themselves and their independence within the service or by moving on
- To attend staff meetings and to represent the company at meetings with external partners and agencies
- To work in consultation with other members of the staff team and to liaise with the staff of other projects
- To ensure the upkeep, security and all aspects of the health and safety of the building, service users, volunteers and staff and to take responsibility for any cash and equipment under your control
- To carry out regular key-working\/support sessions with service users at the agreed period, to meet their individual needs and keep comprehensive records of all contacts made
- The efficient keeping of appropriate records including case notes, support plans, financial and administrative records
- To ensure service users have an appropriate level of preparation and induction to the rights and responsibilities in line with the relevant tenancy agreement
- To ensure service users access their full support entitlements, that housing benefit claims are submitted in a timely manner, and arrears and bad debts actively pursued

What you'll need to succeed
The successful candidate will have prior experience of working as a housing support worker or support worker. Already have an Enhance DBS on the update service or Enhanced DBS dated within the last 12 months. The ability to be able to work on a rota\/shift basis.
