Media Relations Officer Position Based in Manchester. Fixed term contract for 12 months.

Your new company
The General Medical Council is looking for an experienced Media Relations Officer to join their Proactive Media team. The General Medical Council work to protect patient safety and improve medical education and practice across the UK.

Your new role
You will be responsible for promoting the work and reputation of the GMC in traditional and digital media, raising and managing its profile to ensure coverage and understanding of the organisation's work is balanced and well-informed. You will contribute, as part of a team, towards the efficient operation of the GMC's media relations function to ensure the organisation provides a high quality service to journalists, health partners and internal stakeholders.

What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role you will have a proven experience of working across a broad range of broadcast, print and online media. In addition you'll have demonstrable experience of developing, delivering and evaluating the effectiveness of media plans - incorporating key messages, tactics and target outlets. You will also be able to tailor content appropriate to different media and social media channels, and pitch news stories to the media.
