Job description

Team Lead, Engineering and Asset Management

The Infrastructure team leads the development and delivery of the power system and interconnection investment programmes in collaboration with partners, customers & communities. We now seek a Team Lead in the Engineering and Asset management Team. You will lead and manage a team of client engineers in the offshore area to ensure that business priorities are met.

Your role will be to manage the client engineer activities in respect of these offshore wind connections. The client engineering function is responsible for undertaking project design reviews/site inspections on both contestable and non-contestable transmission offshore projects to ensure that these projects are developed in accordance with functional specification standards. Delivery of these projects is required to meet key departmental and company and national objectives.

The interaction and development of positive relations with multiple commercial bodies who are developing multi million euro projects which will assist in achieving the Government renewable targets will be crucial. You will need the requisite people skills to influence third parties in relation to technical matters relating to offshore connections to the Transmission network and be able to resolve conflict or differences between connecting parties and the TAO. You will also be expected to work closely with the Technical Authority lead.

You will lead and manage the procurement external engineering consultants to provide feasibility studies and client engineering services on offshore projects as required in accordance with delegated financial control framework. You will also lead monthly commercial meetings with external engineering vendors; manage the contracts to ensure value for money is achieved and lead the engagement with offshore customer and stakeholder technical consultants as and when required in order to resolve issues arising.

You will have an Engineering degree or equivalent, typically with 10 years relevant experience with a holistic understanding of the power industry along with proven experience in the onshore wind or oil and gas industry. You will also have significant expertise in High Voltage Direct Current technology and offshore technologies including offshore platform substation technologies and export connections to land base substations. You will have Ability to lead and influence others to move towards a common vision or goal and to work collaboratively with and through others.

You will be passionate, engaging with a drive and enthusiasm to deliver on the company Strategy with and through others and you will be an excellent communicator, able to articulate technical concepts and analysis to non-technical audiences and business leaders.
